Lumen Journal is built to be a private, offline journal. Your entries — the text you write, the emoji and mood you choose, and the dates you write on — are stored only on your device, in a local database. The app does not have accounts, does not connect to the internet, does not use analytics or advertising, and the developer cannot see, access, or receive your journal entries at any time.
Lumen Journal collects no personal information at all. The app has no sign-up, no login, and no network connection of any kind.
The only data that exists is what you type into the app yourself:
The text of each journal entry you write
The emoji and emotion label you attach to an entry (for example, 😄 "Joyful")
The date and time each entry was created
This information is saved directly to an on-device database (using Android's Room/SQLite storage) inside the app's private storage area. It is never transmitted anywhere.
Your journal entries are used for exactly one purpose: to show them back to you, inside the app, on the Today screen, the Calendar, and the day-detail view. Lumen Journal does not analyze, profile, sell, rent, or share your entries with anyone, including the developer, because there is no mechanism in the app that sends this data off your device.
Lumen Journal does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs. No data broker, advertiser, or other company receives information from this app.

Lumen Journal opts in to Android's standard auto-backup so your entries can be restored if you get a new phone or reinstall the app. This backup is handled entirely by your own Google account's Android backup service (encrypted in transit and at rest by Google) — the developer of Lumen Journal never has access to this backup data. You can turn this off at any time in your device's Settings → System → Backup.
Your entries remain on your device for as long as you keep the app installed. You can delete an individual entry at any time from within the app. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes the local database and, unless a device backup exists as described above, all journal data along with it. Because we never receive a copy of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our end.
Lumen Journal does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information at all. The app is not directed at children under 13, and contains no chat, social, or sharing features.
Your journal data is protected by the same sandboxing and encryption-at-rest protections Android applies to every app's private storage. Because your entries never leave your device, there is no server-side breach risk for this data.
If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version of the app adds an optional cloud-sync or export feature — this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly. Any future feature that would send your data off-device would be opt-in and clearly disclosed before it is enabled.
