Add Wednesday, June 25th, from 6:00pm-8:00pm to your calendars! We're having a church family plus community family VBS plus picnic dinner in our church yard. Pastor Sam plus some archery pals are giving Archery Lessons with a Bible message to all who are interested. He said their daughter Eloise can already do it! Everyone will enjoy hot dogs, chips, drinks, and sundaes in fellowship together, whether you're doing the archery or not. We want our community to see we are a visible, sharing, community church. Kathi is heading up this project and has a plan for rain or shine, so come. You can just come on down and bring a lawn chair, or if you want to volunteer to bring something or possibly donate a buck or two, let Kathi know.
5th Sunday of the month Methodist get together
The pastors of the Methodist churches in St. Albans got together and agreed to have us all worship together as a full body of Christ on any month that has 5 Sundays. We celebrated the last time at St. Andrew, followed by a lunch we all shared together. On Sunday, June 29th, we will all meet at St. Peters to worship at 10:00am. Afterwards will be a covered dish lunch for everyone. St. Peters will provide the meat, all others bring a side dish and we'll fellowship together having lunch.
Wednesday, June 25th, from 6pm - 8pm we are having a churchwide event on the lawn. It will be a "family Bible School" and a chance to say goodbye and thanks to Pastor Sam for being our leader these past 6 months. It's a time to wish Katlynn and the girls best wishes, too. Bring your lawn chair and plan on having a hot dog, chips, plus an ice cream sundae as we thank him and tell him goodbye. Everything will be provided, so just come on down to the church yard. In the event of rain, we have it covered with a plan, so still come! Sam has a special hunting trip he is doing with his dad this fall. As a thank you for his great job helping us through this transition, plus in the spirit of leading our Archery VBS, we are giving him a gift card to Cabela's as thanks from the church.
The Trustees Committee has one job left on their chore list....clean the sanctuary windows. Anyone interested in taking it on?
Sunday, July 6th, at 9am we will have a pastries & coffee event to meet our new pastor, Sheila Radochio, in the fellowship hall at Lakeview. Our Sunday service time will still be at 9:30 am. Come a little early to introduce yourself and welcome Pastor Sheila to Lakeview. We are giving her a plant to welcome her to her new office. Thanks always to Linda Ancion for organizing so many hostess events for us.
Parsonage updates and news.....
Lakeview is sharing/renting our parsonage with a new associate minister at Elizabeth Memorial UMC in Charleston for $600 a month. Jessica Kayembe and her husband, Dady, will be moving in mid-June. Pastor Sheila lives in North Charleston and doesn't need to use our parsonage. Jessica earned her bachelor's degree from Africa University in Agriculture and recently graduated from Drew School of Theology in Madison, New Jersey. Pastor Jonathan Deardorff at Elizabeth Memorial UMC, as well as his congregation are so appreciate we're willing to rent our parsonage to them. Our former renters, Pastor Mike Shinn at Aldersgate UMC took wonderful care of our parsonage and had it professionally deep-cleaned before they left. We're happy to share and appreciate the bit of extra funds it gives us. Special welcome to Jessica and Dady! Her ministry at Elizabeth Memorial starts July 1st.
Special thanks to Kent for heading up our parsonage committee. He and his able assistant, Martha, are quietly taking care of a million little things that need fixed, adjusted, trimmed, etc., and Lakeview is so grateful!
