We have 5 Methodist churches in the St. Albans area and the ministers of those churches have been meeting together regularly. They want any month that has 5 Sundays, to have all congregations meet together for one church service to strengthen Methodist ties and build community. We would all attend one church service and then have lunch together following the service in that same building. The first opportunity to try this is Sunday, March 30th. We will all meet at St. Andrew UMC and the service will be at 11:00am followed by lunch. Lakeview is responsible for providing the desserts. Pastor Sam will be the speaker that morning. Mark your calendars because there will not be a service at Lakeview on March 30th because we will be joining other Methodists at 11:00am for a service at St. Andrew, followed by lunch. If you choose to give an offering that morning, provisions have been made that it will go to your home church. See you there!
We are now just over a full week into this season of Lent, where we are called to a time of reflection, repentance, and renewal. Lent is a 40-day journey that invites us to follow Jesus’ path of humility, sacrifice, and devotion. Just as He fasted in the wilderness, resisting temptation and drawing nearer to the Father, we too are invited to set aside distractions and focus on deepening our relationship with God.
Lent is not just about giving up something, but about gaining something—gaining a closer walk with God. Whether it’s through prayer, fasting, or acts of charity, this season reminds us of the importance of surrendering our hearts and lives to Christ.
In Matthew 4:1-2, we read that Jesus “was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, He was hungry.” Jesus’ time of fasting prepared Him for the trials ahead, and it is in moments of discomfort and deprivation that we often experience God’s presence in profound ways.
As you walk through this season, remember that it is not about perfection, but about purpose. Let this Lent be a time of drawing closer to Christ, allowing His love and sacrifice to transform your heart. Embrace the invitation to journey with Him, reflecting on His life, His suffering, and His ultimate victory over death.
The Good Friday Service is at Lakeview Church at 6:30pm, on April 18th.
Our Easter Sunrise Service is at 7am, April 20th, at the church, outside by the lake. Plan to stay for breakfast afterwards in the Fellowship Hall.
Lakeview's Easter Service is Sunday, April 20th, at 9:30am, followed by an Easter egg hunt for children.
How are you doing with your Lenten Calendar? Has it created a new awareness of how blessed we are? Bring your little box and/or donation to church on Sunday, April 6th so we can place it on the altar as one church family. The donation will go to World Central Kitchen, a group that provides a quick response of food to people worldwide, who are experiencing an unexpected disaster.
Lakeview's Palm Sunday Service is April 13th, at 9:30am, at the church.
March is Undie Sunday month. Please bring any size for men, women, boys, and girls to be donated to Community Bridge for local distribution.
