Lakeview UMC has committed to preparing 12 Christmas baskets for needy families this year. A list should be available soon with information about the size of each family, etc. The St. Albans Ministerial Association has developed a list of what needs to be included in each basket to not only assist those who are preparing the baskets, but also develop norms of what families can expect. We've been asked to please stick with this list to help them avoid problems that they've had in the past. When the list becomes available, families can sponsor an individual family, or donate money and the Outreach Committee will do the shopping. See Wayne Kersey with any questions or comments.
Mark Sunday, December 15th, 4:00pm to 6:00pm on your calendars for a heart-warming afternoon at church. Children will participate in a hands-on, make and take craft workshop. Adults not involved with the workshop will have a time for fellowship/Christmas games together, including holiday snacks & coffee. Following a snack dinner, Ms. Nancy will share with the children The Christmas Story. They will quickly take parts, find costumes, and reenact the event for everyone to see. We'll conclude the evening singing Christmas carols and having a birthday party for Jesus. See Kathi McCormick for more information.
Q & A Brief Meeting after Church on November 17th regarding the 2025 Pledge Drive and info about our new interim pastor...
A pepperoni roll/salad lunch will follow the Q & A session. Plan to be there!
Lakeview is hosting a "Craft Sale for Kids" event, Saturday, January 11th at the church. Some retired teachers, plus others, have cleaned out their art supplies, left-over craft kits, creative goodies and we're going to have a whopper of a sale for kids only. We intend for everything to be 10 cents. The purpose isn't to raise money. It's an opportunity to clean out obviously, but hopefully to show the community our support for children. We'll be inviting all children in the community to participate. See Kathi or Karen for questions or where to bring your donation.
Lakeview Administrative Council Minutes: Nov. 5, 2024

Opening:
The meeting was called to order by Karen with prayer.
October minutes: Motion was made to accept the minutes from the last meeting and was unanimously approved. (Kathi/Dick)
Treasurer's report: Martha and Janet
Monthly update given. Expenses are about the same. Insurance bill will be on next month's report. Insurance options discussed. Janet to speak with agent and report back next month. Arrangements have been made for those that make a lump sum donation for the year (ie, from an IRA) to divide into 12 monthly donations reflected in our monthly finance report. Parsonage bills coming in under $500. Ekstroms are helping with year end duties. Motion made to accept the report was approved. (Don/Wayne)
Finance: Don
Full year budget presented for 2025. Aspirational nature of budget discussed as second half of the year is still unknown. Plan to pass out budget this week and prepare pledge packets. Informational session to be held after church on Nov. 17 with a light lunch. Motion made to approve 2025 budget and passed. (Martha/Janet).

Working on getting light mounted. Kent has agreed to take on the parsonage role. Bob obtained the deeds for the church properties.
Family ministries: Kathi
Committee met, planning a monthly activity. Joy to World Christmas program planned for all ages on Dec. 15 with crafts, adult social room, snack dinner, story with Nancy Smith, reenactment of Nativity, carols and cake/ice cream for Jesus' birthday. Jan. 11 will be a kids craft sale, including a flyer for Lakewood.
Nurture: Karen
Linda Ancion has agreed to take over for Linda Thompson. Fall potluck went well. Hiking and bible journaling are continuing. Valentine's spaghetti dinner planned as a fundraiser.
Outreach: Wayne
Lakewood snack bags are going well. Kid kits are continuing with 6 this past Sunday. Shoe drive funds are available for next year. We will be providing 12 Christmas baskets this year, up from 10 last year, and a new list is coming soon. Donations will be accepted. Church was able to donate several coats after the yard sale to Christ's Kitchen.

Salary, working hours and worship time discussed ahead of new pastor starting in January. Receptions and Christmas gifts for staff planned.

Recommending a separate Christmas Eve service from St. Andrew. Charge paperwork is coming together.
