Sharing, Praying, Caring, Staying in touch
Brian Plum, pastor
Mark your calendars for this special evening!
Lakeview is supporting ten families in need with Christmas baskets. See Wayne Kersey if you are interested in sponsoring a family or contributing toward a basket.
Also, Lakeview is joining Riverlawn Presby providing Snack Bags for children in need at Lakewood Elementary. It is hoped that these bags will provide snack food over the weekend (bags are privately handed out Friday afternoon at school) for children who don't always have a secure food source. Let Wayne know if you might be interested in supporting this program. The Outreach Committee will oversee the program.
The renovations done in the Educational wing are just about completed! It took a "village" or more like "a church family" to successfully get this done. Dick Thompson, John Humphreys, and Don Morton headed up the Trustees' strategy for getting this done. Special thanks to Don Morton, who was our "on-site" overseer with the different folks hired to remove the previous asbestos tile, install the new floor, etc. He spent quite a few hours at church working and problem-solving. Thanks, Don!
We're grateful to the teenage muscle we had moving everything out of the rooms. The fallout from the committee that selected the paint and tile is they want to redo their own rooms at home, now. The painting committee was amazing. Yes, that is Linda Ancion holding the roller in the pic above the article. We're going to sort through our things in the multi-purpose room and reorganize so we will be at top efficiency when things get back to normal. There are too many names to individually mention of those who helped, but please know WE APPRECIATE YOU!
Please turn in your 2024 Pledge Card if you have not done so. Thanks!
Thank you Janet Painter for cleaning out and reorganizing our Church Library. It definitely needed some special attention and we're grateful you stepped forward to handle it.
We're starting a group interested in going on small hikes. They will be focused on unplugging, observing nature, and being thankful to God for His wonderful gifts. Like to hear more? Contact Becky Child, hiking coordinator.

Reminder: Turn in pledge cards as soon as possible. Motion was made to accept the treasurer's report and was unanimously approved. (Bob/Marilyn)

Water damage update: Tile replacement is complete. Contractors are finished. Doors need adjusting at transitions (church responsibility). Kitchen is all set. Rooms are ready for things to be moved back in.
Bob noted that the floor buffer and wax should not be used on the new floors. Wayne has contacted the janitor. A specific cleaner should be used with a swiffer-like mop.
Karen says intentional sorting will begin with Kathi working on the nursery, Karen K. and Marilyn C. working on the Sunday school room, Linda on the kitchen and Janet P. on the library.
John will replace the stairway light and exit light in the sanctuary.
Family ministries: Kathi McCormick
A Christmas program is planned for all ages for Dec. 17 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The theme will be similar to last year's Birthday Party for Jesus. The multipurpose room will not be ready in time so there will be tables set up with 10 crafts in the nursery, pizza and drinks in the choir room and costumes in the Sunday school room. The Christmas story will be performed with children and adults in the sanctuary with Nancy Smith. Marilyn Colby will handle costumes (box needs to be found in multipurpose room). Cake will be served after the program. Dave is being asked to help with music. Volunteers are welcome to help with crafts. Please invite all the children you can.
Becky talked about a previous hiking group at St. Andrew and the possibility of starting one up here.
Parsonage: Marilyn Morton
John replaced the hot water tank in the parsonage.
Nurture: Linda Thompson
Starting to return things to the kitchen – dishes must be washed.
Planning a floor dedication covered dish dinner in late January.
Worship: Karen Kersey
There will be a Christmas Eve candlelight service at Lakeview at 7 p.m.
Nancy is not available for children's sermon/Sunday school for a limited time. Discussion ensued about contracts and procedures for paid/unpaid time off for those working in the church.
Karen K. suggested a CD of hymns be on hand for backup when Dave is unavailable to play music.
Pastor/parish: Bob Carpenter
Will look into guidelines on paid/unpaid time off. Talked about ways to grow the church, including visitations.
Outreach: Wayne Kersey
There will be 10 Christmas baskets distributed this year. The program was introduced Sunday in church. 8 of the 10 are already spoken for.
Lakeview will be assisting Riverlawn in providing snack bags for children at Lakewood who need extra food on the weekends. Brian and Zondra have covered the costs through the first of the year and volunteers will purchase items for the bags that will be delivered to the school on Fridays through the end of the school year.
Kathi talked about the shelter work starting up again once a month. The Twin Cities Center is now called Peak Living Services.
Pastor Brian Plum:
Talked about growing the church outside the building. Proposed a weekly children's program, a sort of one-day VBS with dinner, a craft, a Bible lesson and playtime held during the week.
Pastor Brian closed the meeting with a prayer.
Minutes submitted by Becky Child.
