Lakeview Administrative Council Minutes: Nov. 7, 2023
Opening:
The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. with a prayer by Bud Newbrough.
Present: Bud Newbrough, Don and Marilyn Morton, Wayne and Karen Kersey, Karen Ekstrom, Bob Carpenter, Kathi McCormick, John Humphreys, Don Griffith, Becky Child, Pastor Brian Plum
Treasurer's report: Karen Ekstrom
The general fund is low. Some funds are earmarked, while others are not. There was some discussion about moving funds from the memorial fund to the general fund. Motion was made to accept the treasurer's report and was unanimously approved. (Wayne/Kathi)
Trustees: Don Morton (for Dick Thompson)
Water damage update: Tile replacement is on its last step.
Leak near water fountain fixed.
Water heater leaking at parsonage. Plan is to replace it.
Karen Kersey talked about selecting the paint color. Still trying to find the right color. Wayne will lead the painting committee. The plan is to paint before the tile is installed. Volunteers are welcome.
The stuff removed from the rooms before the work was done will be sorted and discarded as needed before the rooms are opened. The nurture committee will handle the kitchen, Janet Painter will take the library/office, Kathi and Nancy Smith will redesign the nursery space, and Karen Kersey will do the Sunday School/phone room.
Leadership transfer: Karen Kersey
Karen presented the updates to the administrative board and committees for the new year. A motion was made to accept the changes and unanimously approved. The list will be available Sunday at church with the phone directory. (Bob/Wayne)
2024 budget: Don Griffith
Don presented the 2024 budget. Pledge cards will be available at church on Sunday for return by the end of the year. A motion was made to approve the 2024 budget and unanimously approved. (Wayne/Marilyn)
Family ministries: Kathi McCormick
A Christmas program is planned for all ages for Dec. 17 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the multipurpose room. The theme will be similar to last year's Birthday Party for Jesus. There will be craft tables set up, the Christmas story will be performed with children and adults in the sanctuary with Nancy Smith. Marilyn Colby will handle costumes again this year. Cake will be served after the program.

There will be 10 Christmas baskets distributed this year.

Lakeview's Charge Conference is Nov. 12 at noon at St. Andrew United Methodist Church.
Worship: Karen Kersey for Barb Smith
Advent begins on Dec. 3. There will be a Christmas Eve service at Lakeview.
Nurture: Karen Kersey for Linda Thompson
Sunday school class is meeting at 8:30 a.m. before worship.

Bible journaling is Thursdays at 10 a.m. at the Kerseys' house, 10 Aliff Lane. All are welcome.
Call John Humphreys for any fixes needed at the church.
The Administrative Council plans to meet the first Tuesday each month, no exceptions. January's meeting will be a planning session for 2024.
Pastor Brian closed the meeting with a prayer.

A big thank you to Don Morton and John Humphreys for all the plumbing jobs they have completed around the church in the last few months. They have saved the church hundreds of dollars.

Mark your calendars for Lakeview's Christmas Program on December 17th, beginning at 3pm. We will have hands-on crafts for all the children, a space with hot chocolate and goodies for adults to gather with friends, a dinner, re-enactment of the Christmas story, and a birthday party for Jesus.
