“The true light, ([Jesus the Christ]), which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. He [Christ] was in the world, and the world came into being through him; yet the world did not know him. He came to what was his own, and his own people did not accept him. But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God, who were born, not of blood or of the will of the flesh or of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth.” – John 1:9-14
Oh, how I love the Light coming into the world, and the celebration that Jesus Christ came “to seek and save the lost” and that we “might have life abundant.” How I love having a community of faith to share life with. Once we look past the beautiful decorations and the busy-ness of shopping and eating and gathering and eating, it’s good to consider God’s grace. I love those words in the communion liturgy, “when we turned away and our love failed, Your love remained steadfast.” By coming into life as we know it, Jesus Christ invites us to life as He knows it – life eternal, life with no more suffering, no more injustice; life with understanding and peace and praise. Oh, it’s uplifting to consider!
And it’s good to remember that we have a purpose while we are yet here: to be bearers of the light of Christ, to speak into and to walk into darkness and proclaim hope and new life. We are “blessed to be a blessing,” (see Genesis 12). “Don’t keep the faith – share it!”
Anyhow. Thank you for sharing your light and life and witness. I am blessed to be in ministry with you.

I also scheduled “brainstorming / planning” meetings in odd numbered months, and hope to gather ideas and formulate plans as we live out our mission in the community.
The 2023 calendar is now available at church (or ask me and I’ll bring it to you!)
And a final reminder: If you selected a “Christmas Basket” recipient, please call the household to let them know you’ll be providing for them, and to set up a date and time for delivery. Please let me know if you need any assistance with this.
God bless you, friends. I love you and there is nothing you can do about it! Stay healthy!

A Birthday Party for Jesus
Sunday, December 18th at 4PM is Lakeview's Christmas Program! Adults will visit while children go around to different tables making nativity crafts. We share the message visually that Lakeview is a caring church. Ms. Nancy will have a children's moment and share the story of Jesus's birth with the children. At 5PM we will all eat pizza, salad, or soup together. While the children are putting on nativity costumes, the adults will be singing Christmas carols in the multi-purpose room with Dave as the accompanist. The perfect way to get the Christmas spirit! We'll watch the children act out the story of the birthday of Jesus, then end by having birthday cake and ice cream, concluding by 6PM. Come show your support and get the Christmas spirit!

• Calendar:
• Christmas Eve Eve service 7:00 at Lakeview UMC
• Christmas Eve service 7:00 at Humphreys’s UMC
• New Year’s day, Wesley covenant renewal
• Meetings:
• Will be scheduling some brainstorming meetings
• Plans to restart the weekly bible study
• Tuesday morning coffee to continue
• Solar Holler
• PK spoke with a representative from Solar Holler and they gave 2 proposals for putting solar panels on the church and the parsonage.
• Option 1: pay $18,000 to pay for the solar panels and have use of the energy.
• Option 2: the solar panels are installed and the church pays Solar Holler for the energy received from the panels at a rate less than currently being paid to the electric company. This rate would be fixed for a 25 year period with the exception of a 1% rate increase each year.
• The panels are 2’x3’ and there would be 13 panels each on the church and parsonage.
• The company has installed 1,000 systems in the area.
• It was decided that PK would ask a representative from Solar Holler to come and discuss this matter further sometime in January
