RIBAT 2024

"Ribat" is a series of sculptures that symbolize the idea of a fortress as a secure foundation for individual freedom., illustrating how structures initially built for safety can eventually become prisons. The works engage with the natural contours of stone, skillfully shaped to create an architectural presence that echoes medieval design while hinting at a futuristic vision.

Ribat was a spiritual refuge for Arab warriors of the 12th century who, upon reaching the Atlantic Portuguese coast, renounced war in search of inner peace.
