Luisa Fuster is Professor of Economics at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid since 2012. Previously, she was Associate Professor with tenure at University of Toronto and at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, and Research Professor at IMDEA Social Sciences. Luisa obtained her PhD at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 1994 and a B.A. in Economics at Universidad de Alicante in 1989. She was awarded a Fulbright postdoctoral fellowship to visit the Department of Economics of the University of Minnesota during 1995-1996.
Her research focuses on quantifying the macroeconomic and redistributive effects of social security and taxation, and the determinants of gender gaps in labor market outcomes. The results of her research have been published in the Review of Economic Studies, the Journal of Monetary Economics, and the American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics, among others.
In 2021, Luisa Fuster was the President of the Spanish Economic Association (AEE) which annual Simposio took place at the Universitat de Barcelona School of Economics.
