Ecology and evolution of ciliated protists in marine plankton

Most eukaryotic life is unicellular, yet we know only a small fraction of the vast diversity and ecological roles of protists in the biosphere. With about two billion years of history on our planet, ciliates offer us a variety of shapes, genomic features, metabolisms and more to explore. We combine field work, laboratory analyses (high-throughput DNA sequencing, microscopy) and bioinformatics to answer questions related to  the Biodiversity of marine ciliates and their Relationships with the Environment
