Lucerna is built local-first. The app works without an account, and your spiritual life stays on your device. We designed it so that we collect as little as possible — in most cases, nothing at all.
Prayer data stays on your device. Your candle intentions and dedications, prayer history, annotations, highlights, favorites, reading progress, and settings are stored locally on your iPhone. They are never uploaded to our servers — we do not have servers holding your data, and we cannot read your intentions.
No account, no identity. Lucerna does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, location, or contacts.
Purchases. Payments are processed entirely by Apple. To validate purchases (candles, novenas) and enable restoring non-consumable purchases, we use RevenueCat, which processes an anonymous app identifier and your purchase history. This data cannot identify you personally. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
No tracking, no ads. Lucerna contains no advertising, no third-party trackers, and does not sell or share data with data brokers.
Daily companion: delivering the daily liturgy, saint of the day, and daily letter — computed and displayed on your device.
Prayer tools: guided rosary, novenas, Way of the Cross, meditation, and the chapel — all running offline.
Purchase validation: confirming candle and novena purchases and restoring novenas if you change devices.
On-device storage: your data lives in the app’s local database on your iPhone, protected by iOS security and your device passcode.
Backups: if you use iCloud device backup, Apple may include the app’s local data in your encrypted device backup, under your own Apple account and settings. We have no access to it.
Deletion: deleting the app permanently deletes all local data, including active candles and intentions.
No selling: we do not sell any data, to anyone, ever.
Because your data never leaves your device, you exercise your rights directly: you can view, edit, or erase everything from within the app, or remove it entirely by deleting the app. For any privacy question, contact us at the address below.

Lucerna is a Catholic prayer and Bible application: daily liturgy, saint of the day, a daily letter, the complete Bible with audio reading, guided rosary, novenas, Way of the Cross, meditations, and a chapel where you can light candles for your intentions. By using the App, you agree to these terms.
Bible texts and traditional prayers are provided in public-domain translations. All core features of Lucerna are free of charge.
Lucerna offers optional purchases. They unlock nothing essential to prayer — the free candle, the rosary, the Bible, and the daily liturgy are always available to everyone.
Candle with intention (consumable): a dedicated candle that burns for 2 days in your chapel. Once it has burned out, it is consumed and cannot be restored or transferred to another device.
Novenas (non-consumable): guided nine-day prayers, unlocked permanently. Non-consumable purchases can be restored on a new device via “Restore Purchases”.

Prices in other regions are the local equivalent set by Apple. Payments, invoices, and refunds are managed exclusively by Apple through your Apple ID settings.
Nature of candle purchases. Purchasing a candle in Lucerna is the purchase of a digital feature within the app. It is not a charitable or religious donation, and no physical candle is lit anywhere on your behalf. Your purchase supports the development of Lucerna.
Lucerna is a devotional aid. It does not replace the sacraments, spiritual direction, or participation in the life of your parish.
Lucerna is an independent application. It is not affiliated with, nor endorsed by, the Catholic Church, any diocese, sanctuary, or religious institution.
Prayer texts follow traditional formulations; local liturgical translations used in your parish may differ.
Your intentions and dedications are private and remain on your device (see the Privacy Policy above). You are responsible for the content of the intentions you write and of any candle-dedication cards you choose to share with others. If you delete the app, active candles, unlocked content records, and all local data are permanently deleted; novenas can be restored via Apple after reinstalling.
