(5th grade musical)
During my first month at Harker, I had the pleasure of working with the other technicians on their production of The Emperor's New Clothes, which featured a 5th grade cast.
The set consisted of pre-constructed risers and step units on stage, as well as platforms that went past the apron to help give the actors more space. It was important that I had to work carefully, especially during school hours when students were involved.
The musical was entirely a group effort, and most technical elements were handled by multiple people over the course of a few weeks. One memorable set piece in particular was the Ironing Throne, a parody on Game of Throne's Iron Throne. The chair, coat hangers, and silver paint was all done by other technicians, but I had the chance to draw the diamond pattern on the back board. It took multiple tries to make sure they were all evenly sized and consistent, but the end result was entirely worth it.
During the performances, I was a part of backstage crew (there was no deck crew, as the actors were responsible for taking set pieces off stage during scene changes) and helped out wherever I could to make sure everything went smoothly.
