In a constantly evolving world, technological advancements continue to transform various aspects of social life. The repercussions of these changes on the labour market may be the most significant, even the most severe, especially in developing countries, where professions and skills are constantly evolving. At the same time, the education sector remains disconnected from the needs of the labour market.

Employers are now seeking language graduates who have a versatile professional profile, combining linguistic proficiency, intercultural skills, technological abilities, and problem-solving capabilities. However, traditional and classical skills (both oral and written) are still prioritized in language programs, creating a gap between what graduates possess or know and what employers demand. The transition from linguistic knowledge to effective language use in practical situations depends on the professional context in which the future employee will be placed.

As technology continues to reshape industries and methods of communication, it becomes imperative to bridge this gap and equip language graduates with the necessary future skills. Language professionals are now required to adapt to the digital environment, leverage emerging technologies, and possess a diversified set of skills beyond language proficiency.

Between Knowledge and know-how, the chosen title for this scientific event tends to create a link between Competence and Performance as two key concepts in linguistics and language didactics. Simultaneously, it also conveys connotation related to university as a symbol of knowledge in its absolute form on the one hand, and the world of work as the quintessential context for the implementation of this latent form of knowledge on the other hand.

This scientific meeting serves as a platform for critical discussions and collaborative efforts among the academic community, industry professionals, and policymakers. By bringing together these stakeholders, we aim to foster a comprehensive understanding of the evolving professional landscape and identify the specific skills that language graduates need to succeed in the modern job market.
