We are pleased to announce that on Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th January 2026, we will be hosting a two-day event at Queen Mary University of London. The first day will consist of a London Probability Day (LPD), a one-day conference in probability, and the second day will be a research workshop as part of the Tangents and New Normals (TnN) network.
Monday 12th January 2026, 13.00 - 18.00. The third London Probability Day (LPD): Geometric methods in probability.
13:00 - 13:30 Reception
13:30 - 14:30 Annika Lang (Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg).
14:30 - 14:45 Break
14:45 - 15:45 Iolo Jones (Durham University)
15:45 - 16:15 Break with tea and coffee

17:15 - 18:00 Reception
Tuesday 13th January 2026. 10.00 - 15.00. Tangents and New Normals (TnN) workshop:
10:00 - 12:00 Motivational problems brought forward by:
Annika Lang (Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg)
Aleksandar Mijatovic (University of Warwick)
Sam Power (University of Bristol)
12:00 - 13:00 Break for lunch
13:00 - 15:00 Workshop
The London Probability Day on Monday 12th January will be the third in a series of events bringing together researchers in Probability across London and the UK. The first LPD took place at UCL in September 2024, and the second LPD took place at KCL in January 2025.
The workshop on Tuesday 13th January will have invited and contributed talks, opportunities for scientific discussion and networking, and consideration of longer-term network funding possibilities. It is part of the wider Tangents and New Normals (TnN) network, which focuses on geometric methods in probability, statistics, and machine learning. There will be subsequent two-day events within each of the statistics and machine learning themes.
Please register here by 1st December 2025.
Registration is free but required due to space limitations.
If you would like to join us for a dinner with the speakers, please let us know by 5th January (limited availability).
If you have questions, please contact anyone on the local organising committee:
