MY INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE AT WESTERN DIGITAL, BANGALORE (JAN 2019 - JUNE 2019)

I interned at Western Digital Bangalore during my 6th semester for six months ( Jan 2019 - June 2019 ). It was my first visit to Bangalore, the silicon valley of India. I was very excited to visit Bangalore, experience the tech culture of the city, and I must say that Bangalore lived up to the expectations. The time I landed at the Kempagowda airport, I felt a difference in the city vibe. There was some sense of pleasantness amongst the hustle-bustle of the city.

The Kempagowda airport is one of the finest airports I have seen. The airport is well lit even during nights and looks simply beautiful. It has ample of ways of engaging waiting passengers via cafeteria shops, reading stalls and anything and everything one expects to see in such a place. I never felt boredom at this place.

Western Digital has a big office in Prestige Tech Park, Marathahalli. It has about ten floors with the entire top floor dedicated to the cafeteria. The office is well built and has state of the art facilities. The color theme of the office goes very well with both work and fun. It has a red, grey, black, and white color in most of the space.

The work culture at Western Digital is quite healthy, with many opportunities to learn and  work upon new technologies. I was part of the Software Tools team, where I worked on many technologies (more details of my work are available here).

First few days, we went through an orientation camp which introduced us to the firm's work culture and routines. After which we had an official lunch day with our managers. Following the week, our managers introduced us to our projects. They allocated each of us a mentor for our doubts regarding our projects. We were free to discuss our doubts with anyone suitable. All of the staff were very helpful. I enjoyed my stay at Western Digital, Bangalore.
