Jeff brings over 35 years of legal experience to every case he handles. Licensed to practice in both Kentucky and Indiana, Jeff has built a reputation as a trusted and approachable advocate who balances professionalism with genuine care for his clients.

Jeff graduated with honors from the Mauer School of Law at Indiana University in Bloomington. Early in his career, he gained rare and valuable insight into the judicial system by serving as a law clerk for two federal district court judges and a Kentucky Circuit Court judge. These experiences gave him a profound understanding of civil procedure, judicial decision-making, and effective courtroom strategies—knowledge he brings to bear in every case.

Jeff’s extensive litigation experience spans personal injury, municipal law, contract disputes, and civil rights cases. He has successfully argued cases before the Federal Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Kentucky Court of Appeals, and the Kentucky Supreme Court. He is also a published author, having contributed to the Indiana Practitioner Series: Personal Injury and Torts and articles for American Law Reports.

Jeff takes pride in working alongside his daughter Lauren, a talented attorney with whom he collaborates on many cases. His sense of family commitment extends to his clients, whom he treats with the same level of care and dedication. Many clients stay in touch long after their cases conclude, having become friends along the way.

Beyond the courtroom, Jeff’s life is rich with adventure and connection. He enjoys spending time with his wife, four children, and two grandchildren - and two dogs. He’s an avid hiker, bowler, chess player, and traveler, always ready to explore new experiences. Jeff also loves to read and is constantly seeking knowledge that informs his practice and personal life.

Lauren DeGrella Freeman is a proud Louisville native who brings a unique blend of grit, empathy, and determination to her legal practice.

Growing up in the Highlands and working over a decade in Louisville’s vibrant restaurant scene, Lauren developed a deep appreciation for hard work and the challenges people face. These experiences taught her that everyone deserves a second chance, life can throw unexpected curveballs, and financial hurdles shouldn’t stand in the way of justice.

Lauren is an alumna of Atherton High School and earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Louisville, where she made the Dean’s List multiple times while studying Cultural Anthropology and Communications. Her passion for advocating for others led her to the Brandeis School of Law, where she graduated with honors in the Class of 2019. 

During law school, she earned top marks in Family Law and Contract Drafting and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Animal & Environmental Law. As a third-year student, Lauren also took on the critical role of representing domestic violence survivors, helping them secure protective orders through her limited practice license.

Lauren’s drive for justice naturally led her to a career in litigation. She is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the U.S. District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Kentucky, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

When she’s not in the courtroom, Lauren loves seeking adventure. From skydiving to tackling some of the world’s most challenging hiking trails, she’s not one to shy away from a thrill.

Liz is the heart of our law office, effortlessly balancing the demands of client care, case management, and office operations—all while keeping the team organized and focused.

As our Legal Assistant, Liz wears many hats. She ensures every case progresses smoothly, keeps the office calendar running like clockwork, files essential documents, collects records, and stays in close contact with our clients. Liz’s exceptional interpersonal skills and attention to detail make her an invaluable resource for both our attorneys and the people we serve. She’s not just a key part of our team—she’s the person who keeps everything (and everyone) on track.

Liz also brings a creative edge to the office, thanks to her background as a talented artist. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Herron School of Art and Design and is accomplished in ceramics, painting, printmaking, inks, and traditional darkroom photography. Her artistic eye and ability to think outside the box often provide fresh perspectives, even in the complex world of legal work.

Clients often find themselves forming a genuine connection with Liz. Her warmth, dedication, and thoughtful approach make her a trusted ally throughout their legal journey.
