The society we live in is hyper-fixated on identities and whether or not individuals conform to certain identity expressions. The way a person identifies themselves is crucial to how they interact with different people and how they align their beliefs. Within feminism, it’s important to recognize how complex individuals are in order to address their issues. WGSS has been a way for me to learn about what are the systems and structures in society that are oppressing people and their identities, as well as, help me understand where do I stand in all of this. I take issues of intersectionality to heart because I am affected by it and I’ve chosen to discuss gender and sexuality, too.
