Kia ora! Welcome to my webpage. Starting October 2026, I will be a Herchel Smith Fellow at the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics, University of Cambridge. Earlier in 2026, I completed a PhD in Mathematics at the University of Melbourne under the supervision of Volker Schlue and Jesse Gell-Redman.
A copy of my CV can be found here.
My email is lbernhardt[at]student.unimelb.edu.au
I am interested in partial differential equations and their applications to general relativity, cosmology, and fluid dynamics. My work addresses nonlinear stability and scattering problems for (among other things) cosmological models and black hole spacetimes. I am also interested in the phenomena of singularity formation in nonlinear wave equations.
