Battles
New regulations may be added if we are prompted to do so by actions taken by players - don't do anything which is obviously shouldn't be allowed, even if it isn't listed in the rules. In other words, use some common sense. If this happens during a battle and probably changed the outcome, that battle will be invalidated and rescheduled.
How to declare a battle
To declare a battle you need a good reason for doing so - whether or not a reason is good is decided by a staff vote; any staff involved in the battle will not be allowed to vote. You cannot use the same reason from the same occurrence on the same player more than once, for both official battles and official sieges.
To declare a battle, do so in the #conflicts channel in our Discord server, posting the following:
Which player you want to declare the battle on
Why you are declaring the battle
How to avoid being declared a battle upon
Negotiate a compromise with whoever declares a battle on you for them to not fight you - make sure you let a staff member know you are doing this, as you can get immunity from the declarer's reason being used again.
Don't do anything which will give a good reason for somebody to declare a battle on you, e.g. don't kill players randomly, don't kill merchants/hired units, don't grief, etc.
What happens when a battle is accepted?
The leaders must negotiate a date and time for the conflict to happen.
The player who has been declared on must submit a location for a battlefield. This location will be placed under official server protection until the battle begins. If the battle is over a faction overtake, the location must be in the contested faction's land.
If a player purposely tries to avoid a battle, it will be forfeit* to the other player.
Players may prepare for the battle by hiring units - for each side, there is a troop cost limit of 10,000 coins (i.e. the total cost of all the troops on one side). Warg bombardier units are not allowed.
A battle can be called off if both leaders wish to do so. In this case, the reason for the battle can be used again.
If one of the leaders doesn't show up, the battle will be forfeit* to the leader who showed up.
If both leaders do not show up, the battle will be cancelled - the reason used by the declarer in this case can be used again.
What happens when a battle starts?
Spectators are allowed, but if any spectator helps a player involved in the battle, that spectator will be banned and the battle may be invalidated. Spectators will be given instructions on how to spectate when a battle starts.
Please note that if the battle is over territory, only members of factions you have been allied with for at least 7 days can assist you. These members must have also been in their factions for at least 7 days to assist. You can use /alliances to list alliances.
Each side must gather at a location with all players and all hired units in that one location, so moderating staff can register players and count units quickly. When counting and registration begins, all forms of PvP are not allowed until the battle starts. Any infractions of this may result in a punishment.***
Each team has a limit of 30 players.
Players are not allowed to bring in extra hired units which weren't counted at the beginning of the battle. Doing this may result in a punishment.***
War horns are not allowed.
You will respawn at the battlefield if you die.
Explosives will not break blocks on the battlefield. However, all explosives except double-and-triple-strength orc bombs will still deal damage to players and NPCs.
A 16x16 block area around your spawn will be protected; enemy players won't be able to place or break blocks inside it. Using water in a way which makes it flow into your enemy's spawn protection will result in a punishment.***
Homes (/home, /f home, /a home) which are set in the battle area will not work.
To win the battle, a side needs to hold the capture area in the middle of the battlefield for a cumulative 15 minutes. 'Holding' it means dominating it in terms of player numbers.
Players who bring warg bombardier hired units to the battlefield may be punished.***
Players can build and destroy on the battlefield, but banner protection is not allowed. Any use of banner protection may result in a punishment.***
Placing lava does not work.
The losing leader must pay** 10,000 coins to the winning leader.
*In the event of a battle being forfeit, the forfeiter must pay** 20,000 coins to the victor. This will override the penalty for losing a battle. If the reason for the forfeit can be resolved straightaway, and it is, then no price has to be paid and the battle will continue.
**A player must pay official battle penalties. If a player is unable to pay the full amount owed, they will owe the amount as an official debt until it is either fully paid off or written off by the recipient. If a player refuses to pay the full amount owed, any remaining debt will be forcibly removed from them and given to the recipient. A penalty does not need to be paid if the battle concerns a faction overtake, and the defending leader loses.
***Individuals who are punished for breaking battle regulations will receive a warning and a ban for the duration of a battle on their first offence, and an indefinite ban from sieges and battles on their second offence.
Recreational battles
Recreational battles are like normal battles, with the following differences:
Instead of a good reason, both leaders need to agree that they want a recreational battle.
Any default battle regulations can be customised in a recreational battle, as long as both parties agree.
New regulations can also be added.
When declaring it, use the following format:
Which player you want to declare the battle on
Recreational battle
List of customised regulations
There will be no coin penalties for losing or forfeitures.
