Lorraine Borowski officially announced that she is running for mayor of Decorah, Iowa, in 2017.

Lorraine's knowledge of local government comes from 16 years as Director of the Decorah Public Library, 20 years of attending the City Council as she filmed meetings for public access broadcasting, and 27 years as a city employee. Her work experience involved extensive collaboration with members of the Decorah community and Winneshiek County, as well as state officials and others from across the state.

“As I retired as the director of the library on June 30th, I look forward to the opportunity to give back to the community of Decorah by serving as mayor and continuing to be involved in local government. I believe that by creating a city council environment that listens today, we can effectively build for tomorrow.”
