I am an entrepreneurial minister, which means I am a freelancer, and every part of my income comes from the work I do. The Hymn by Hymn Project was and is a labor of love, but I now am incurring increasing costs for hosting the site.

If everyone who visited gave just $5, those costs would be covered in a single week.

Whether you give once or monthly, your generosity will keep Hymn by Hymn free and available to to the tens of thousands of people who benefit from it.

Please support the project!

My thoughts today are on the Holy Angels and I would like to share just a few passages from Holy Scripture and some pictures and thoughts on these dear ones. Angels are mentioned some 320 times in Scripture! The Church has always taught us that we each have a Guardian Angel. Have you named yours? I have named mine! And I will only know in eternity just how much my Guardian Angel has done for me.

The angels are always adoring at Holy Mass+++ Send Your Angel To Holy Mass o holy Angel at my side, Go to the church for me, Kneel in my place at Holy Mass where I desire to be. At Offertory, in my stead, Take all I am and own, And place it as a sacrifice upon the altar throne. At holy consecration's bell, Adore with seraph's love My Jesus hidden in the Host come down from heav'n above. Then pray for those I dearly love, And those who cause me grief, That Jesus' Blood may cleanse all hearts and suffering souls relieve. And when the priest Communion takes, oh, bring my Lord to me, That His sweet Heart may rest on mine and I His temple be. Pray that this Sacrifice Divine may mankind's sin efface: Then bring me Jesus' blessing homeThe pledge of every grace. Anonymous Mt.4:11 Angels came and ministered to Him

Come into his presence with singing. So, the kind of singing that I have in mind is the kind with which we come into the presence of God. Or another way to say it would be: make joyful noise to the Lord. The kind of singing I have in mind is to the Lord. It is in his presence and for his ears. We consciously choose to sing with his attention in view; it is a Godward act.

The duty of singing praises to God, seems to be appointed wholly to excite and express religious affections. No other reason can be assigned, why we should express ourselves to God in verse, rather than in prose, and do it with music, but only, that such is our nature and frame, that these things have a tendency to move [and express] our affections.

Why were they singing? Yes, it was a witness. The prisoners were listening. But Luke says they were singing to God. Why? Because they needed to experience the nearness and the goodness and the greatness of God. God was their sustainer. And they experienced it in singing.

And the ransomed of the Lord shall return

 and come to Zion with singing;

everlasting joy shall be upon their heads;

they shall obtain gladness and joy,

and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. (Isaiah 35:10)

Singing will remain, rooted in suffering, forever. The greatest song will always be the song born of suffering. We will never forget the price Jesus paid so that forgiven sinners could sing with everlasting joy.

So, take heart. Though singing is sometimes stopped by suffering, nevertheless, our most common experience in this world is that singing sustains in suffering. And if the slain Christ is your song, then for you (and all the redeemed) the day is coming when suffering will be no more, and singing will follow the end of suffering forever.

God, creation sings your praises; mountains echo from afar.

All your blessings here amaze us; hills rejoice how great you are!

In the whole of your creation, in each sea and wood and glade,

We are called to have dominion over all that you have made.

We've ignored your wise instruction to take care of what you give.

For our greed has caused destruction and your world cries out to live.

Though you've given us your bounty by your kind and loving hand,

In the search for power and money, we've abused sea, sky and land.

Still, your limits aren't to crush us, or to stifle or devour.

Sun and tide and wind refresh us, giving light and warmth and power.

You give new imagination, love to heal our neighbors' pain,

Lives to build up your creation till the earth is whole again.

God, you give to us a vision of this world we're called to seek,

Where creation joins in singing, where the strong protect the weak,

Where your people serve each other, wanting only what is best.

May we work with one another till creation so is blessed.

Urgent comes alongside indigenous believers in some of the hardest to reach places on earth. There, we seek to make disciples, multiply churches and provide humanitarian relief in ways that are biblically faithful and practically effective.

Make sure there is a regular routine pattern in your life where you are stopping and giving thanks to the Lord. Specifically for his goodness, his grace, and his mercy and his gifts, and where you are singing praises to his name. Yes, when you gather together with the church, but also on your own. It is good to be alone with God and just sing praises to his name.

We thank you for the church. We thank you for your salvation of us. For forgiving us of our sins. For making us new creation. We thank you for hope. Lord, we thank you for peace and passes all understanding. We thank you for joy that supersedes circumstances. God, we thank you for the way you love us and lead us and guide us and provide for us. We sing praises to your name.

Oh God, if I had more confidence in my ability to lead others in song, I would just start singing right now. God, we love singing to your name. We love shouting your praises and we declare your steadfast love in the morning. You wake us up with love for us. You wake us up with new mercy waiting for us every day. We declare your steadfast love in the morning and your faithfulness by night. Every night as we walk through this world, we can look back in the day and see you have been with us. You have helped us. God, you have guided us. You have never forsaken us. You are always faithful to us. Oh God, we give thanks to you. We sing praises to your name. We declare your steadfast love and your faithfulness.

In God we pray. You help us to spread your steadfast love and your faithfulness. You would help us to lead others to give thanks to you and sing praises to your name. God, we pray specifically for the Lao people of Laos in Thailand. The small people group engrossed in Buddhist beliefs and practices mixed with animism and spiritism.

Oh God, we pray that they would know that you are the most high God. That Jesus, you love them and have died on the cross for their sins. To restore them to you, to reconcile them to relationship with you. God, we pray for your salvation, your steadfast love, your faithfulness to spread to the Lao people of Laos and Thailand so that they might give thanks to you, oh Lord, and sing praises to your name almost.

A few weeks ago, we finished a series on Leaving a Legacy, which focused on living out the characteristics that God models for us in Psalm 103. For a printable on What Psalm 103 Tells Us About God, click this link:

25 On that day Joshua made a covenant for the people, and there at Shechem he reaffirmed for them decrees and laws. 26 And Joshua recorded these things in the Book of the Law of God. Then he took a large stone and set it up there under the oak near the holy place of the LORD.

Yes! Those who studied the Torah and writings as much as the Pharisees would have known that exact reference right away and would have known Jesus was declaring Himself to be YHWH. To be Echad, one. The Bible is full of these amazing connections. It had hyperlinks before hyperlinks were a thing!

It is in our PRAISE and WORSHIP that our Savior breaks our chains and heals us and refreshes and delivers us!!!! It is in his PRESENCE that he comes in flooding us with his love and filling us with his sweet Holy Spirit. I am so grateful for the relationship I have with Jesus, it is a love like no other.

Our vision at first goes to stones becoming animated, maybe even growing faces and singing praises to God! Most feel the verse is proverbial rather than literal, but what happens when we can praise and choose to not praise, then what? We think of rocks speaking, but what if we are already hearing them? What if they cry out through explosions from volcanoes? Or earthquakes such as mentioned in diverse places? Or meteors crashing to earth? Or landslides? We think of God speaking in English or a heavenly language, but what about groanings??? Just something to think about!! 152ee80cbc
