Marco Lopez

My name is Marco Lopez. I am currently a third-year undergraduate student at the University of Washington. My lab and fieldwork experience has primarily focused on monitoring benthic and shoreline ecosystems and their response to changes in biotic and abiotic conditions. 

I would like to create an environment that emphasizes science communication so that work like mine is accessible to the average person, allowing them to engage with parts of the world that they would otherwise not see. Creating this connection is how we keep people curious about our oceans and get them invested in their preservation.

Outside of my academic endeavors, I'm a second degree black belt in Taekwondo, a huge Pokémon fan, and can almost always be found rooting for and/or complaining about Washington DC sports teams.
