Eager to serve his country, Lonson Becker enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2011 during Operation Enduring Freedom. During his enlistment, Becker was deployed to the Persian Gulf. Although he was honorably discharged in 2015 after four years of service, he still proudly supports his brothers and sisters who have held the responsibility of serving their country. Supporting fellow veterans is a cause near and dear to Becker’s heart. An active member of his local VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars), the Navy veteran is passionate about helping veterans in need. Although he may now be retired from the US military, Becker’s commitment to his country, fellow military servicemembers and veterans, will forever remain paramount. He actively seeks out volunteer opportunities that directly assist veterans on home soil.
Football has always been a cornerstone of Lonson Becker’s life. In many ways, his leadership skills materialized out on the field. At Staples High School, Becker played the position of linebacker. His team claimed 3 state championships and 1st team all area. While enrolled at Ithaca College, Becker played as a linebacker for the Bombers; highlights included making the first round of the NCAA playoffs in 2008. Becker’s football days are behind him now. But he’ll never say no to a casual game!
