María Doreste Velázquez 

Maria Doreste Velázquez is an award winning pianist, musicologist and music educator originally from Spain. She teaches General Music at the Edison K-8 (Boston Public Schools) and she has been a piano, ensemble and early childhood instructor at Berklee Institute for the Accessible Arts Education for the past 10 years.

Mrs. Doreste is the General Music Chair of the Massachusetts Music Educator Association Conference.

Between 2020 and 2022, Mrs. Doreste was a fellow for

the Massachusetts Council for the Arts, developing two projects and this site https://diversemusiclearners.com which collects tools for other music

educators.

Mrs. Doreste has been part of the Boston Symphony Orchestra Educator Advisory Team since 2018, developing lessons to accompany their Young People’s Concerts.

Mrs. Doreste presents sessions and professional development regularly in regional colleges and conferences nationally and internationally. She also collaborates with BU, Longy, BC, NEC & Berklee hosting student teachers, volunteers & fellows.
