YOUTUBE vs TIKTOK

We have seen a war between Youtube and Tik Tok after the famous Youtuber, not to mention the name, made a video and got viral with the fame. In the video, he was seen to accuse the other famous platform for its content, which he thought to be ridiculous and not creative. Before going in depth, let’s go through the details on both the platforms.

Starting from Youtube, it was launched in February, 2005 by Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim. By time, youtube has proved to be a great help for people both from producer and consumer side. With entertainment , people are using it for educational and research purposes. More than 2 Billion users tune in to Youtube every month.

TikTok was launched in India in September 2016 and got fame instantly. The app gives you all the options to create and edit the video. We have seen a number of people getting fame through the app. There was a time when the Bollywood industry used the platform for the promotion of movies.

Tik Tok, was quite famous in the country until the time the Indian government banned it from the Indian Social platform on June 29,2020 just after the controversy created between Youtube vs Tik Tok. The app was banned under section 69(A), of the Information Technology Act, 2000, on the grounds that they “posed a threat to sovereignty and integrity of India”.

Youtube needs a lot of research and creativity before reaching the audience. People watch the videos on topics they are interested in and have no effects on the mental health of consumers while Tik Tok gives you the option of only mindless scrolling. Research has proved that Tiktok negatively affects the mental state of health with appearance related anxiety and social FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out).

The argument whether the decision of banning TikTok was for good or bad is a long topic of discussion. While we have given you some facts to make your own judgment, be aware of content you are consuming on any platform.
