London Towne Band Program 2020-2021

This is a site created for parents to help learn about and enroll in the London Towne Band Program. If you have any additional questions, please email me at: smlovecchio@fcps.edu

Band Overview

  • Band classes meet once a week for 30 minutes and usually take the place of one music class.

  • Band is available to all 5th and 6th graders

  • Band students can choose to play either the flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet , trombone, or percussion (includes mallets).

  • No experience is necessary!

  • Band is a graded class and requires a full school year commitment.

Which Instrument to Choose

There are six different instrument choices across three families of instruments (woodwind, brass, and percussion). Please check out the videos below with your child and think about which sound the both of you like best.

How Do I Get an Instrument?

The top recommendation is to rent a musical instrument at a music store. These stores have been around for a long time, offer high quality instruments and have streamlined the rental process. Most offer curbside pickup, deals and sales, and provide repairs during the length of contract. The following stores offer musical instruments for rent in our area:

https://www.foxesmusic.com/

https://www.musicarts.com/

http://themusicstores.com/

https://www.contemporarymusiccenter.com/

Rentals through the County - If your child qualifies for Free or Reduced Lunch, an instrument can be provided for the school year for $20 (no saxophones). Please watch for this option on the registration form.

Already have an instrument? Great! Please make sure it is in good working order. If you're not sure, please email me.

  • Band Classes will start in late September or early October.

  • We will be using Schoology for all our assignments and meetings.

  • Class schedules will be shared before our first band class.

  • Thank you for your interest in the Band Program. I hope to see and teach your child this school year!
