Lollipop Chainsaw is a hack-and-slash video game in which players play as Juliet as she fights through hordes of zombies. Juliet can use melee attacks, dodges and high and low attacks with her chainsaw. Zombies can be beaten into a groggy state, during which they can instantly be killed with a chainsaw attack. Gold medals can be earned by defeating zombies, smashing objects, and rescuing classmates. These medals can be spent at Chop2Shop.zom stores found throughout each level where Juliet can purchase new moves and combos, as well as items that can increase her stats. Sparkle Hunting is achieved when Juliet kills three or more zombies simultaneously or in quick succession and rewards platinum medals that can be spent on other goodies such as unlockable costumes, music, and artwork. As the game progresses, Juliet will also receive the Chainsaw Dash, which allows her to charge with her chainsaw and fly off-ramps, and the Chainsaw Blaster, a long-range weapon used for blasting enemies and obstacles. Throughout the game, Juliet can also collect lollipops which allow her to recover health. The maximum number of lollipops Juliet can hold depends on the difficulty setting. Juliet will die if she loses all her health or fails certain scenarios, though, in the case of the former, Juliet may be able to come back to life by winning a roulette spin.[citation needed]

Throughout her journey, Juliet is accompanied by her boyfriend, Nick, who is a disembodied head hanging from her waist. At certain points in the game, Nick's head can be attached to a decapitated zombie's body, during which the player will rhythmically press buttons in order to have him move about and clear the way for Juliet. By obtaining 'Nick Tickets', Juliet can activate the 'Nick Roulette' in which various moves can be performed using Nick's head, such as a bombarding attack or making masses of zombies groggy. By filling up her star meter by defeating zombies, Juliet can activate a special state which powers up her chainsaw for a limited period, allowing her to easily defeat zombies and obtain Sparkle Hunting more easily.[6]

For the characters, the illustrator "NekoshowguN" (known for her previous works on music games GuitarFreaks and DrumMania) designed the characters for Lollipop Chainsaw and the chainsaw that Juliet Starling uses. On February 1, 2012, it was announced that Jimmy Urine from the electro-punk band Mindless Self Indulgence would compose the music for the boss segments. He also provided the voice for Zed, a punk-rock themed boss.[9] On March 6, 2012, it was announced that one of the DLC available for the game will consist of different costumes for Juliet based on five different characters from four anime series: Rei Miyamoto and Saeko Busujima from Highschool of the Dead, Shiro from Deadman Wonderland, Many Chifusa from Many Hiken-ch and Haruna from Is This a Zombie?.[10] These costumes can also be bought in the in-game shop.

The original Lollipop Chainsaw was released in 2012 to mixed reviews for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and was considered a game that never fully reached its full potential thanks to issues like clunky controls. While the game is as wacky as it sounds, fans found the combat to be fun with some clever dialogue, which led to it becoming a cult classic for some over the years.

It's true that most of the men you come across are pathetic freaks, and everyone else is a zombie waiting to be chainsawed into pieces. That doesn't really counter the perviness, though, and for much of the running time the script seems peculiarly at odds with the sweaty visual presentation. Between Starling's youthful, fairly wholesome energy and some of the grottier intentions of the cut-scene direction, you get an uncomfortable blend of elements that comes off, well, a little like cheerleading can when it's out of the sports stadium and splashed across the internet.

It's a smart idea to offer light and heavy attacks in the form of a kind of weaponised pom-pom display that stuns foes and chainsaw lunges that can then efficiently decapitate them - and that good ol' fighting game hit-pause is as reliably motivating as ever. Yet the new moves you unlock don't deliver that many interesting twists on the basic hacking and slashing, while the asides offered up often make things worse.

Lollipop's best idea is probably the Sparkle Hunting system that rewards you with bonuses if you can kill more than three zombies with a single swipe of the chainsaw. It takes the standard trudge of battle and gives it a kind of spatial, puzzle-y feel that's entirely welcome. Its worst ideas are almost certainly the tedious, gimmicky bosses, always ready to come back from the brink for one last pun or one last health bar recharge. (I'll forgive the zombie DJ guy, however, for his autotuned speech. Also, he has his own UFO, and I respect that.)

It all makes for an oddball game that struggles to be odd in the right way. Despite the clever, if patchy, script and some great performances - Michael Rosenbaum from Smallville is particularly good as Nick - there just isn't enough fun lurking in the combat to keep you entertained when a level goes on a bit longer than it should, when an extended joke or homage isn't quite witty enough to earn its keep, when the upgrade shop isn't filled with anything you'd really want to buy, and when the tone descends into damp sleaze. Grasshopper's latest really is a bit of a lollipop: it's sugary, colourful, insubstantial - and perhaps a bit sickly with it.

Getting knocked down means obnoxiously hammering on the "B" or circle button to get back up. If it didn't stutter so much, it'd be harder to see that there's just not a ton of depth to Lollipop Chainsaw's combat. But there's a pretty wide margin for error and experimentation, and the frequency of lollipops (which you can collect and use to restore health) makes Lollipop Chainsawmore forgiving than you might expect.

A film maker friend of mine commissioned me to make the lollipop chainsaw from the new game.

so this is how i went about creating the prop from the game.

This is but one way to make this prop. im not an expert so there are probably better ways to make parts of this, this is just a guide to make it how i made it.

gather the first set of materials for this step.

the handle and the blue foam.

i googled Lollipop chainsaw and set the image size to large and i came up with a lot of shots and took them and i drew some good plans from it and then tested the main body onto my handle as mine wasn't exactly the same as the one in the game i had to edit my plans after i had printed them out (see the second photo.)

when the plans are correct trace them onto the blue foam.

i test cut the plans and placed them inside the handle of the chainsaw to make sure it would fit and look correct.

Then give both the body and the blade an undercoat primer layer of paint, and if there are any imperfections you don't want fill and sand then spay again.

on the side where your left hand will hold the top handle (the back) the side opposite to the blade side, add a detailing sheet of thin styrene or card.

in this case it was a sheet the size 2mm smaller than the outer face with a large circle cut out (where the air vent for the saw would be.

and the side where the blade will be attached make a similar sheet but don't stick it to the body as this will be used to hide the bolt holes that hold the blade secure. use the plans to make the detail section in the front side of the chainsaw.

Firstly, the result was superb. You are a very talented person! Secondly, what 2 grips/handles did you use? I know the red one is a chainsaw handle, but what is the black one and where can I get one? Also, is there any way that I can acquire the templates you used for the body?

is it weird that I think video game chicks are wicked hot..lol.. I really hope game devs keep making games with tons of skin cuz it sure doesnt bother me. and to have a game like lollipop then have a real life girl play her thats just as hot is wicked cool.
