Dr. Patnaik is currently working as an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at National Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technology (Formerly NIFFT) [A Centrally Funded Institute, Government of India] Ranchi, Jharkhand, India. He received his Doctorate, Masters and Graduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering from National Institute of Technology Silchar, University College of Engineering (Osmania University, Hyderabad) and National Institute of Technology Silchar in 2023, 2015 and 2011, respectively. His teaching interest includes Materials Science, Design, Production Technology, Additive manufacturing, Mechanical systems and all the related subjects. He has 3 years of industry experience in Design and manufacturing.
He has obtained NPTEL certification in ‘Product Design & Development’ offered by Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. During his full-time doctoral work, he has worked in a multi-disciplinary project on the study of physio-mechanical and anti-bacterial performance of Silver-Silicon doped amorphous carbon film and AlCr(Si)N for implant application. He has published 30+ Web of Science indexed papers and 20+ Scopus indexed conference proceedings and book chapters. Owing to his interest in designing and developing new machines, he has published/granted 10+ patents.
