Big news for Avenue B! NYC DOT is making the Open Street permanent — with expanded public space next to Tompkins Square Park, formalized two-way bike lanes, and safer crossings near the schools.

8AM - 8PM 7 days a week

During Open Street hours:
- People walking, rolling and biking have priority in the street
- Avenue B is closed to cars and trucks, except local deliveries, pick-ups and drop-offs only accessible via this section of Avenue B.
- For any necessary motor vehicle traffic, the speed limit is 5MPH
- Barriers are placed with 15' spacing to accommodate emergency vehicles; this does not mean the street is open to through traffic.
- During permitted full closures (programs), only emergency vehicles are allowed.
