We found an issue with some of the battery packs that are in the SparkFun Inventor's Kit for micro:bit. The connector gets stuck and can't be removed. Here's the solution from SparkFun tech support:
This is a known quirk/issue with these battery holders but we have a few tips for getting stuck ones out and how to slightly modify the connector to make these fit a little less snug. First, for any stuck battery holders, you can use some tweezers or needle-nose pliers and gently tug on the small “tabs” on either side of the connector. You may need to wiggle it back and forth a bit but the battery connector should come free without damaging it or the connector on the micro:bit.
Next, to try and prevent them from really getting stuck there we recommend using something like a small hobby knife, razor or even some sandpaper to reduce or remove the small protrusions on the top of the battery connector that you can see in the third photo on the product page here (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/14299).
Let me know if you have any further issues with or questions regarding these battery connectors or any of our products and I would be happy to help.
