Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a very common genetic skin condition.
Initially, treatment ususally involves topical creams:
Cortisone
Calcipotriol
salicylic acid
LPC/ Tar creams
The next step is usually phototherapy with UVB light (see Phototherapy information)
Following this, we consider adding in tablets:
Acitretin (vitamin A) - this is not suitable for women of childbearing age.
Methotrexate
Cyclosporine
If you have severe psoriasis, and the above has been proven not to work, you may qualify for Biologic Therapy e.g. Stelara, Humira, Enbrel etc.
