I am a tenured Assistant Professor in the School of Industrial Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology. I received my Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the same university in 2017. My research interests include game theory and stochastic optimization, especially in the context of homeland security and defense applications.
In 2023, I was nominated by the dean of the Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences department for the Best Young Researcher Award TU/e (result: runner-up). Other recognitions are the Beta Ph.D. Award for the best dissertation in the field of Operations Management and Logistics, a third place in the INFORMS Koopman prize competition, the second place in the SING best paper competition and the best bachelor teacher award and best talent teacher award, both awarded by Industria -the student association of Industrial Engineering (TU/e). I am currently a finalist for the Best Teacher Award at TU/e.
I am a recipient of an early-career NWO Veni grant from the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research and lead (as principal investigator) a Ph.D. project on homeland security, which is in close collaboration with the National Police and the National Coordinator of Counterterrorism and Security. Next, I am a co-applicant in two EU Defense Fund projects, called ROLIAC and DISCMAM, and I am acting as work package leader in the first one. Last year, I was involved as co-applicant in the TKI DINALOG project DASLOCA.
In 2023, I was appointed by the ministry of Justice and Security to lead a large-scale research project on improving the Dutch system Protection and Security.
Moreover, I am an Associate Editor for the journal Naval Research Logistics and a member of the TU/e Young Academy of Engineering.
