Lockart was born in California.  She earned her Bachelor's degree in Communications from Cal State Fullerton,  her Master's Degree in English from Chapman University, and a multi-subject teaching credential.   Lockart spent three years traveling and teaching in Asia, before returning to the United States to become an elementary school teacher.   She devotes her free time to loving her family, reading, writing, and playing pickleball.
