So the save went through even with the model lock error...I wonder if it was trying to save twice behind the scenes? The first save went through and the second failed because of the first pending, throwing the message?

@jeffshieldsdev I had this issue for some time until I basically had to blow my entire model away and start again.. I haven't come across it again since, so I had put it down to a 'glitch' not seeing anyone else previously experiencing this and unable to replicate the issue with MS Support...

I've been able to make no real sense of this, and trying to replicate the issue on a small scale never seems to produce the issue (I've already had previous support calls to MS to look at the 'lock' issue, which wasn't re-producable, and have done my own testing on small scale stuff as well, but of course everything just works fine haha. its only when I really start building this stuff out into a sizeable linked entity model such as your own that these weird locks and saving issues start to appear. So I have basically 'settled' for this unconventional, time intensive method of saving things.. at the end of the day, the changes are made and stuff still works... it just seems a little 'too hard basket' to resolve something like this an I'm just hoping this is something that might eventually get ironed out in future updates?

So i have a female model and a model of a 2 handed sword. took me a while to pose them together, but then i changed my mind. is there a way to lock the 2 model together like locking the her hands and the sword's pommel together so i have a easier time posing or is posing the 2 models separately my only choice?

The only way I see this happen as it should would be to have a specific file format variant for a sketchup model that could only be used for viewing/reference purposes and would be locked from edition in Sketchup.

Below, the pattern "Lock-in" is analyzed based on co-occurrence, in order to get insights into how this business model pattern is applied in combination with other patterns within the firms we studied.

Model 2178 is our most popular trailer coupler lock because it fits the most amount of trailer couplers on the market. From an "A-frame" welded-on trailer coupler, to a straight bolt-on style trailer coupler, Model 2178 fits them both and will provide the most secure trailer coupler lock available.

Designing the best coupler locks is not an easy task. We pride ourselves on producing a "glove like" fit coupler lock. Rest assured that Proven Industries trailer lock products will leave you with simply the best coupler lock on the market. In addition, no other trailer coupler locks can secure your safety chains.

Trailer coupler lock model 2178 may not fit all trailer couplers. Please look at trailer coupler lock index pictures below, if you do not see your trailer coupler picture please fill out contact form to ensure you will get the correct trailer coupler lock. This style will allow you to secure most standard S-hook style safety chains in lock.

*Please note, product pictures may not represent current model, as products are revised. All locks are now upgraded to 7 pin tubular lock at no additional cost.

The Proven Disk Detainer Lock was developed for high-security situations where minimum maintenance is not possible. This particular lock is virtually impossible to pick due to its rotating disk and requires special lock picks and skills needed in order to pick.

Disk detainer locks are not all that common in everyday use. Mainly this style of lock is reserved for high-end locks. These lock perform well in extreme weather conditions with minimum if any maintenance.

Medeco comes as one of the oldest High-security lock manufacturers in the USA. You will find this high-security lock in most prisons, government facilities, and even the White House! This particular lock is virtually impossible to pick due to its rotating pins that not only need to be at the right height but the right rotation in order to unlock.

You must lock a part of the model you are going to edit so that other users could not edit it at the same time. Locking is allowed, if that part of the model is not locked by another user, because the same item can be locked by a single user at a time.

With its innovative patented PIN genie technology, Lockly Model 7S offers the ideal blend of convenience, security, and value. This smart lock is effortless to install, making it a favorite among homeowners, office property managers. Its unparalleled reliability ensures peace of mind, while its exceptional value remains uncompromised. Experience the perfect harmony of convenience, security, and affordability with the Lockly Model 7S.

A lot of programmers who are used Visual Studio have a hard time adjusting to the fact that in other source control systems, files do not need to be locked/checked out to one developer at any given time.

Locking advocates say that a lot of risk is introduced when more than one person works on the same file simultaneously. Communication and coordination between team members becomes much more necessary when using the merge model, according to them. Plus, a lot of people seem to mistrust automated merges.

IMHO merge model is vastly superior because it allows me freedom while working with code. It may not be the best model for "going dark" with the code for 1 week, but then again with "lock" model this is an equally big problem. No-one shold go dark with code for a week.

One thing I've done that you can try: Keep track yourself. Since the locking model is more pessimistic, this is easy to do if you are working under that model. Every time you have a lock conflict with another developer, go over and talk to them. Keep track of the following:

4 is the only situation where it can be argued that locking helped you, and covers every such occurrance. What I've found over the last 3 years I've been doing this is that nearly every problem is of the 1-3 variety. I think I found a 4 once. But if I add up all the time lost to 1-3, it's tremendous.

I think the merge model is far superior, it's more flexible, users can work in parallel, never waiting for one another, and the amount of time that takes to resolve conflicts is far less than the time lost by a locking model. Most of the time, changes made to a file don't conflict and can be automatically merged.

The merge model is kind of like swimming. People who haven't done it at first are afraid of it, but everybody who knows how to do it loves it. Some people have bad experiences early on, and most people just have to experience it and get over that initial fear.

Locking advocates are wrong, if there is such a thing as one who advocates for that. Every team I've met using the old-fashioned locking style system has complained about it, and looked longingly at the people using other methods. I worked on a project for one place that were forced to use a locking system and opted to use NO CONTROL at all (so I set up a secret SVN branch, even though I much prefer Bzr or Git).

Merging is always problematic and counterproductive and should be avoided at all costs. Merging large code changes and refactored files is a pain. Forcing an Optimistic locking model on all developers is wrong.

You must lock the part of the model you are going to edit so that other users cannot edit it at the same time. Locking is allowed if that part of the model is not locked by another user, because an item can be only be locked by one user at a time.

There is additional model integrity protection for a collaborative environment. All project structure modifications can only be done by one person at a time. To prevent simultaneous structure modification, project structure locking is realized.

The project structure is automatically locked to ensure correct model integrity when you perform one of these operations. While the project structure is locked, other users may continue getting error messages that may prevent their working with the model. The project structure is unlocked automatically when the project is committed. Alternatively, you can unlock the structure manually.

I use Revit 2015-2016, during my daily works at my company, we spend a lot of time to complete the designs. I just wonder if there's a way to lock a revit model down, making it read only when issuing the model. We want to protect our works, please help to advice how could we achieve this goal ???

Now take advantage of locking your adjustable coupler. If you have been looking for a solution to lock your adjustable couple then we have it! Our new lock restricts access to bolts of your adjustable coupler. Now your adjustable coupler can be locked in any desired position. Also, enjoy the benefit of being able to key this lock with any of your other Proven Industries locks by selecting keyed alike.
