LOCATY
Last Updated: May 15, 2026
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how the Locaty team (“Locaty,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use our mobile applications and any related services (collectively, the “Services”).
By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy.
We collect only the information reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, and improve the Services.
When you interact with the Services, you may choose to provide:
Contact Information — details you submit through in-app forms or when contacting us for support.
User Activity Data — information about how you use the app, such as feature interactions, viewed content, and general usage patterns.
When you use the Services, certain technical data may be collected automatically:
Device and Technical Information — IP address, operating system, device model, browser type, and similar identifiers.
Advertising Identifier — used to support advertising, analytics, and attribution.
We may receive limited information from third-party partners (such as advertisers or analytics providers) who use cookies or similar technologies within the Services. We do not control how these third parties collect or process data.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal data, such as financial, medical, or biometric information.
We use collected information for the following purposes:
Operating and maintaining the Services
Personalizing features and improving usability
Understanding usage trends and enhancing performance
Providing customer support and responding to inquiries
Complying with legal obligations and enforcing our policies
We apply appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access or misuse.
We take reasonable steps to safeguard your personal information, including:
Secure storage environments with industry-standard safeguards
Encryption of data during transmission where appropriate
Restricted access to personal data, limited to authorized personnel
Periodic review and improvement of security practices
No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We will notify affected users and relevant authorities in the event of a data breach, in accordance with applicable law.
Certain features of the Services require access to specific device functions. You may grant or revoke permissions at any time through your device settings. Below is a detailed explanation of each category of permissions and why they are requested.
As a location-sharing application, Locaty relies on location permissions to deliver its core functionality.
Precise Location (GPS) — used to determine your real-time position and share it with your designated contacts. This is the primary function of the app.
Approximate Location (Network-based) — used as a fallback when GPS signals are weak, such as indoors or in dense urban areas.
Background Location Access — allows the app to continue updating your location when it is not in the foreground. This is only active when you have explicitly enabled Live Sharing; background location sync does not occur when sharing is turned off. This is necessary for features like continuous location sharing and geofence-based alerts — your location is shared exclusively with the Circle members you have chosen, and used solely to provide real-time location updates and arrival/departure notifications. You may stop sharing or disable background location access at any time through the app or your device settings; doing so will limit the app to providing location updates only while it is actively open.
We process location data only for the purposes you have authorized. Your location is shared only with contacts you explicitly designate within the app.
Camera — used if you choose to take photos or scan QR codes within the app (e.g., for adding contacts or verifying identity). The app does not capture images or video without your active initiation.
Push Notifications — used to alert you about location-related events, such as when a contact arrives at or leaves a designated area.
Time-Sensitive Alerts — used for safety-critical notifications, such as SOS alerts from your contacts, which may bypass Do Not Disturb settings on supported devices.
Internet Access — required for all core functions, including syncing location data and communicating with our servers.
Network State and Wi-Fi Information — used to optimize data transmission and determine the best method for delivering location updates (e.g., reducing battery drain over Wi-Fi).
Foreground Service — allows the app to display a persistent notification while actively tracking your location, in compliance with Android system requirements.
Prevent Sleep / Wake Lock — keeps the device awake during active location-sharing sessions to avoid interruptions in data transmission.
Vibration — used for haptic feedback in notifications and alerts.
Receive Boot Completed — allows the app to resume location-sharing services after a device restart, if you had previously enabled them.
Installation Source — used for analytics and attribution to understand how users discover and install the app.
Installed Applications — access information about installed applications on the device (e.g., app list, package names) for security, compatibility, or feature optimization.
You are always in control. All permissions can be individually managed in your device’s system settings. Revoking a permission may limit or disable the feature that depends on it, but will not affect unrelated features of the app. We will never request permissions that are not necessary for the functionality we provide.
You may request deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at help@sunnysideau.com. Upon receiving a verified deletion request, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information with trusted third-party service providers who assist us with:
App analytics and performance monitoring (e.g., Adjust, Google Firebase, Google Analytics)
Advertising and monetizing (e.g., Facebook Ads, Google Admob, AppLovin)
Infrastructure, maintenance, and customer support
These partners are authorized to use your information only as necessary to perform services on our behalf. We may also disclose information:
To comply with legal requirements or lawful requests
To protect the rights, safety, or security of users, the Services, or others
In aggregated or anonymized form that cannot reasonably identify you
