The 2018 LMS Midlands Regional Meeting and Workshop on 'Galois covers, Grothendieck- Teichmüller theory and Dessins d’enfants’ took place at the University of Leicester from Monday June 4 to Thursday June 7, 2018.

The LMS Midlands Regional Meeting will take place on Monday June 4 and the invited speakers are:

Fabrizio Catanese (University of Bayreuth, Germany)

Minhyong Kim (University of Oxford, UK)

Leila Schneps (Institut de Mathématiques de Jussieu Paris, France)

These lectures are aimed at a general mathematical audience. All interested, whether LMS members or not, are most welcome to attend this event.

The LMS Midlands Regional Meeting on June 4 2018 was followed by a workshop on 'Galois Covers, Grothendieck-Teichmüller Theory and Dessins D'enfants' from June 5-7 2018.

The meeting and workshop are sponsored by the London Mathematical Society and the University of Leicester. The organisers are Frank Neumann and Sibylle Schroll.

PROGRAMME: The complete programme with venue, times and speakers for both events is now available here. A summary timetable can be found here. All lectures and sessions will take place in Ken Edwards Lecture Theatre 3 (KE LT3). Here is a map of the campus and here a 3D picture with all buildings.

FUNDING: There are funds available to contribute in part to the expenses of members of the London Mathematical Society or research students registered at UK universities to attend the meeting and workshop. Requests for support, including an estimate of expenses, as well as all queries about the two events may be addressed to the organisers: lmsmrm2018@le.ac.uk

CLAIM FORM: An expenses claim form (travel, etc., for invited speakers, LMS members and UK-based PhD students) is available here. All signed expenses claim forms, related original tickets and receipts must reach the organisers by June 25!

PROCEEDINGS: The proceedings are planned to be published in the series Springer Proceedings in Mathematics & Statistics. Participants can get a 20% reduction on Springer books. More information here.
