Do alpaca dryer balls smell?

No. These dryer balls have been washed numerous times. While alpacas have a natural scent, it is not apparent in washed fibers.

How long will they last?

They should last for a long time. These are solid felted balls, made from fleece. If the fleece was placed in a compost pile, it would take up to two years to decompose! So the felted balls, under normal conditions, should be good for years.

I keep loosing my dryer balls!

My best advice — count your dryer balls after removing your clothes from the dryer. Place to check: sleeves, pockets, etc.

After using, won’t they be wet?

While alpaca dryer balls absorb water during the drying cycle, they will be dry at the end of the cycle. If not, just set them on top of the dryer to dry.

After a few months, static cling was back.

A couple customers found this an issue. But the simple solution is -- wash your dryer balls with a load of clothes!

Why should I get rid of my dryer sheets or fabric softener?

Multiple studies have shown that materials and chemicals in dryer sheets and fabric softener are harmful to ourselvesa and the environment. More information can be found on our website.

How do I store my dryer balls?

Alpaca dryer balls can be kept in your dryer.

My dog / cat love alpaca dryer balls. What can I do to keep pets away?

Since the dryer balls are made from 100% natural fibers, pets enjoy playing and chewing on them. Store them carefully and out of reach.

My alpaca dryer balls are falling apart?

Are they really falling apart? Probably not. Each ball is a solid ball of felt. Yes, a few ends of fleece may start to appear with use. Two solutions: WASH your dryer balls or SHAVE off the bits and pieces.

I want some scent. Can alpaca dryer balls be scented?

Yes, put one drop of essential oil on one dryer ball. Make certain they are dry before use. Do not use High heat.

I use those plastic dryer balls (or tennis balls). Why would I want these?

REDUCING DRYING TIME. Plastic or rubber won't absorb moisture. Alpaca fibers are hollow and absorb 30% more moisture than wool

GREEN ALTERNATIVE. Our dryer balls are made from 100% nature fibers. As an added bonus, these fibers are the short and course fibers that cannot be used for making yarns, therefore, are usually thrown away.

PLASTIC, COMPRESSED GAS AND HEAT. Do you really want your clothes dried with plastic or rubber? What gases are in tennis balls?

How are they made?

Each alpaca dryer ball is handmade. After collecting fleece from the alpacas, the fleece is sorted and washed. One ounce of fleece is shaped into a ball and is washed and dried over 4 times.
