Hello & Welcome to my UX Design Journey! My name is Lori & let me introduce you a whole new world I have discovered!!
This website showcases my UX design journey from someone who was complete unfamiliar with what UX design even was to creating mockup designs ready to be sent to engineering to be transformed into apps & websites. This journey has opened an entirely new & fascinating world of design which I have fallen madly in love with.
I have spent years in the medical field from a CNA to a RN to NP (nurse practitioner) specializing in children. My insight with working in the medical community & collaborating with thousands of healthcare professionals & patients from all over the world has given me great understanding of empathy & the needs of people. I plan to apply this specialized training to my UX research & designs.
My Design Process:
In my design process, I successfully completed all steps in the design process from start to finish including:
Lead research
Define a problem in the market
Empathize with users
Create wireframes
Ideate solutions
Build prototypes & mockups
Conduct a usability study
Finalize the product for launch
Every step was a journey in itself with trial and error involved. I successfully completed each step of the journey to create eye catching designs. I worked completely on my own as a generalist with these designs and can't wait to have co-workers who share my enthusiasm for UX design!!
My absolute favorite part of the design process was working with colors, fonts, icons, photos. I loved mixing & matching the components until the perfect combination was established.
Below is a sample of the work I created in my UX design certificate program, from my latest design down to the first design. I hope you enjoy exploring my designs as much as I enjoyed creating them!!
Each Case Study in the Slides Below includes:
A Project Goal

"ABOUT ME"
Hello! I am Lori. The name Lori is derived from the Latin “laurel” which means "crowned with honor". That is exactly how I would describe my life, “crowned with honor”! I have been blessed in so many ways too numerous to count. You see, some crowns are composed of jewels. I see my life as a gold crown adorn with jewels that are the blessings from what I have learned over the years.
My initial training and expertise were developed in nursing. I now have a master’s degree as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
This training has placed so many jewels in my crown by awarding me the opportunity to work with diverse personalities, cultures, perspectives, and values. This training gives me the knowledge and flexibility of dealing with all types of people in multifaceted situations. These experiences have given me unique jewels of blessings in perspectives, a toolkit to bring to any career opportunity. I have a deeper understanding of empathy and how to work with and manage people.
Problem solving is inborn and incredibly satisfying to me. I thrive with creativity and am extremely driven with a clear goal to succeed. The goal to succeed involves many jewels of blessings in my crown that I have learned such as exceptional organizational skills, excellent research skills, the ability to think outside of the box, excitement about trying and learning new things, and an strong work ethic. In my drive to succeed, I have developed skills such as empathy, collaboration, and interviewing. I thrive with the challenges of constantly learning and growing. I have a huge passion for creating original and valuable concepts and improving on current projects.
I took Google's UX Design Certificate Program because I love to design/decorate anything and wanted to learn how to design websites and apps (specifically an app to manage my alpaca herd). I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but loved every minute of it. My favorite part was the actual designing. I love mixing colors, fonts, pictures, and icons to create a beautiful and functionable design.
I am so excited to start a career in UX design. I known my prior work history in the medical field will be a huge asset to meeting the needs and empathy in my UX design creations.
Thank you so much for taking the time to view my portfolio! I really appreciate it!
