the day i realized i was different
︶⊹︶︶୨୧︶︶⊹︶
the day I realized I was different
I was two years old at a family reunion
they said I was a 25 year old in the body of a toddler
the day I realized I was different
I was four years old at the bathroom sink
if I didn’t wash my hands again my mom would die
the day I realized I was different
I was six years old in my grandmothers foyer
crying because the seams on my socks didn’t feel right
the day I realized I was different
I was eight years old face down on my bed
being around people at school drained me out
the day I realized I was different
I was ten years old in my classroom
getting sent down to guidance, crying over a 96%
the day I realized I was different
I was twelve years old playing with my friend
she told me it wasn't normal to admire her so much
today I realized i was different
I am fourteen years old at a school camp
balling like a child over all the noises and people at dinner
I am still too mature for my own good, I go to therapy on a regular basis, I wear seamless socks from Amazon, I rarely see my friends outside of school, my grades no longer define me, I rarely love anymore, but I am not afraid to.
I am different. I am more comfortable every day. I am me.
