Abstract"Creativity is usually seen to involve bringing things together from different domains to spawn something new [...] Seldom are such techniques reflectively marshaled to the task of creating different economies, yet they constitute an important means of proliferating possibilities" (A Postcapitalist Politics, p. xxxii). This session invites people to share with us the connections between art and community economies in their own practice and scholarship. It seeks to undermine an instrumental approach to art, one that uses art merely to illustrate ideas, trying to make explicit the deep connections between the experimental reframing traditions of art and community economies both within CERN and beyond it.
