AbstractThis panel session will explore and respond to Matt Scobie and Anna Sturman’s new book, The Economic Possibilities of Decolonisation. The book is aimed at a popular audience in Aotearoa New Zealand. It provides historical insights and contemporary analysis of Māori economies, using these insights and analysis to think about possibilities for radically transformed political economy in Aotearoa New Zealand. This session will feature an overview of the book, then reflections from Māori scholars from the Community Economies Research Network, including Professor Maria Bargh (Te Arawa, Ngāti Awa), Associate Professor Diane Ruwhiu (Ngāpuhi) Wellbeing Economies board member Jo Waitoa (Ngāti Porou), artist-academic Dr Mark Harvey (Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga, Ngāruahine, Clan Keith) and doctoral scholars Georgia McLellan (Whakatōhea, Ngāi Te Rangi, Pākehā) and Jack Barrett (Ngāpuhi, Pākehā), with a response from Matt Scobie (Ngāi Tahu, Pākehā).Language: English and Te Reo MāoriIf you are interested in reading the book before the session, it is available by ebook or print from Bridget Williams Books (NZD 17.99), or wherever you get your ebooks online (NZD 4.99).
