Abstract
There is growing interest within the CERN network on the idea of building community with earth others, such as in Barron and Hess (2020) and Miller (2020), among others. In this session we will begin to conceptualise a figure, based on the iceberg model of economic activity, that accounts for and helps to visualise all the various ways in which humans interact with earth others, many of which are often invisible. We begin with the idea of a mushroom producing fungus, where the mushroom is visible above the soil, but the vast majority of the fungal organism remains unseen underground. In the session we will brainstorm what sorts of activities might be placed in this figure, where, and to what end. We would like to open this discussion up to the broader CERN community to explore the idea with others who are interested in this line of thinking.
