Abstract
In recent years, diverse and community economies (DCE) scholars have started a rich conversation about the links and connections between diverse/community economies and urban research and action (e.g. at LIVIANA 2021). This session aims to build on these conversations but also invites new scholars and perspectives into the conversation. Together, we want to explore the potentials of diverse economies thinking in the context of urban theories and research. This may include:
- Dialogues between urban theory and DCE
- DCE perspectives on urban transformations
- DCE and alternative urban development models (e.g. Doughnut Economy)
- Tensions around DCE and (de)centralization/localization
- urban provisioning, infrastructures, foundational economies and DCE
Following a number of short inputs (5min) on previous conversations and new perspectives in the first 30-45min, we will the enter a collective discussion (approx. 45min). The last 30 minutes shall be devoted to a more streamlined exploration of potential next steps and projects.
