Livia Campo

Hello! I am a postdoc at the University of Vienna in the group of Balázs Szendröi.

Before coming to Vienna, I was in Seoul as a Research Fellow at KIAS (Korea Institute for Advanced Study) with Prof. Kiem Young-Hoon, and I spent a term as a JSPS Fellow at Saga University, Japan, working with Prof. Okada Takuzo.

Previously, I was a postdoc at the University of Birmingham, where my mentor was Prof. Marta Mazzocco, and at the University of Nottingham, working with Prof. Al Kasprzyk.

I got my PhD in 2020 at the University of Warwick under the supervision of Prof. Gavin Brown.

I did my undergraduate and master degrees at Sapienza - University of Rome.

My research is in Birational Geometry.

Specifically, I am interested in the classification and construction of terminal Fano 3-folds in high codimension. In particular, I study their birational geometry by looking at sequences of birational transformations relating them to one another. I am also interested in birational rigidity question, and K-stability of Fano varieties. More recently, I've been looking at the interplay between Mirror Symmetry and the combinatorics of Fano varieties.

This is me at the Greek temples of Selinunte, Sicily.
