Liverpool Algorithms Days: Bridging Academia and Industry

Networks Science & Technology Group from the School of EEECS
University of Liverpool

June 12 to June 14, 2023

WE ARE NeST

The NeST Group is focused on foundational research in network sciences and technologies. The goal of this group is to establish a well-founded and vibrant environment that provides a vehicle for stimulating applications in the area of foundational research in network sciences and technologies.

Living within networks is inherent to our existence. These networks seamlessly integrate into various systems, encompassing biological, chemical, physical, and digital realms, as well as social relationships and intricate human-created structures like the Internet. The utilization of a network-centred approach, rooted in Mathematical and Computing Sciences, serves as a solid foundation for comprehending, modelling, and processing the surrounding environments.

In addition to conducting high-calibre foundational research, this initiative aims to foster knowledge exchange. This includes engaging in interdisciplinary research endeavours involving academics from our universities, collaborating institutions within the UK and abroad, industry partners, and the general public.

Blending academia and industry to solve real-world problems

together For the better

You bring problems, we bring solutions. Our researchers' expertise focuses on algorithms, optimization, computational complexity, networks, computational economics and algorithm mechanism design and they're eager to create new partnerships for the overall betterment.

Proud Home of world-class experts conducting earth-shaking research

The 2021 Research Excellence Framework Network rated the Department of Computer Science the 5-th in the United Kingdom for world-leading research outputs

In 2021 100% of our research environment was rated as world-leading or internationally excellent by the Research Excellence Framework Network

Always Improving ourselves and others through workshops

The workshops are designed to create a wider cooperation in algorithmic research and in particular a better grasp and comprehension of other perspectives to identify the most essential theoretical and practical challenges that would be important to address in the short and long term future. The NeST group hosted a wide variety of workshops ranging from fundamentals, applications, industrial and public relations to internationally recognised colloquiums.

Academics and industrial partners workshop

Our latest workshop will take place on 12.06.2023 at The University of Liverpool, Department of Computer Science. Between 7 and 10 industry participants from different sectors will join to discuss and detail their challenges and views on collaborating with academics to find a solution. You can participate both online and in person. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to partake. We are able to support your travel within the UK and with accommodation in Liverpool, in case of in person participation.
