Gradual Entry
Starting in a new childcare program can be an emotional experience for both, you and your child. We want to help you and your child feel comfortable in our program. All children must go through a gradual introduction to our program to give your child time to:
Get familiar with the staff
Get familiar with routines and environments
Develop trust and security
Learn by experience that you will return
It would help your child get comfortable if you or a close adult family member is able to spend the first few days with the child in the program.
Arrival and Departure
Parents must sign the child in when they drop off the children after 8:30 am. If the child is absent, we will ask parents to inform us. Parents must sign their children out when departing daycare. We suggest parents to arrive at least 10 minutes before our closing time. In order to:
Enable your child to depart in a relaxed and unhurried manner
Enable staff to provide you with any updates or information
Enable staff to share the information about your child's day
Children will be released to a responsible adult who is listed on the registration form and adequately able to care for the child. Please note that if the pickup person arrives at the centre and appears to be intoxicated or heavily scented with alcohol or drugs, the centre will offer an alternate arrangement for the safety of the child and adult. If the person doesn't accept it, the staff will notify the police.
Late pick up
Our hours of operation are from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. If the child is not picked up after 30 minutes, and staff are unable to contact either parent or any designated emergency contacts, staff will call the Ministry for Child and Family Development Emergency Services. They will take the children into care until the parent can be located.
