OUR NEXT MEETING:

Tuesday November 6, 2018 at 6:30 PM

in the Littleton Academy conference room.

What is LAAC and what do they do?:

Littleton Academy Accountability Committee (LAAC) is a mixed group of Littleton Academy staff and parents working together to assess the current strengths and opportunities for growth for our K through 8 students. We work directly with the principal to give recommendations to the Governing Board in improving our school environment and earning academic achievements. We are also charged with measuring parental, staff and student satisfaction regarding the performance of and to continue to move forward in a manner consistent with the founding principles.

How You Can Get Involved:

Serving on LAAC is an enjoyable, rewarding way to assist in improving our school. Our meetings are open for any LA community member to attend and we encourage your presence! We currently meet once a month, the first Tuesday evening. This is a great way to get involved at Littleton Academy and fulfill your volunteer hours. Check our website for specific dates and times. If you are interested in joining LAAC, we recruit in the Spring. Watch for information coming in the school newsletter then. Another easy way to get involved will be to complete the survey in the Spring, one per family please!

Every public school in Colorado is required to form an Accountability Committee comprised of parents and teachers in order to assess goal achievement. Because we are a charter school, we have the authority to align our Accountability Committee’s purpose to our vision in addition to meeting the state’s requirements. LAAC serves as an advisory committee to the governing board to fulfill a five-part charge:

LAAC shall:

  1. Make recommendations to the Governing Board to foster accountability.
  2. Review and make recommendations on the school improvement plans and/or annual reports of progress.
  3. Consult with and make recommendations to the Governing Board to improve educational achievement and school success.
  4. Measure and assess parent, staff and student satisfaction concerning the performance of Littleton Academy.
  5. Keep the school community informed of LAAC activities.

Serving on LAAC is an enjoyable, rewarding way to assist in improving our school. Most of our time consists of creating, administering, and analyzing the school survey (charge #4). The cooperation and exchange of ideas between parents and teachers throughout this process provides a unique opportunity for a variety of stakeholders to learn from each others’ perspectives.
