Literacy in Kamloops (LinK)
Literacy in Kamloops is a group of community partners who work with a Literacy Outreach Coordinator to meet the literacy needs of everyone.
COMING BACK THIS SUMMER!
We are excited to once again bring free books to children over the summer months to keep them reading for FUN!
This is a partnership project with SD 73 and BGC Kamloops.
This year we are also hosting Story Walks, thanks to our community partners the Y and the TNR Library.
PLAY Kamloops will be hosting fun physical games and activities at some locations.
Thanks to our generous sponsors: CML Properties, Kiwanis and the Government of Canada.
It's a wrap for our first ever VIRTUAL ONE TO ONE Program
We partnered with @KOOL – Kamloops Open Online Learning. Using the zoom platform and Epic! Books, tutors read with 18 @KOOL students twice a week from February to May.
Virtual delivery of ONE TO ONE allowed tutors more time with their students and to connect with the entire family. Students and tutors gained confidence and mastered new skills. The program was so well received by students, staff and parents that we plan to continue supporting @KOOL students in the fall as well as be back in schools doing in-person ONE TO ONE tutoring.
