The Saw series has been an extremely successful franchise. The original movie received the best reviews from critics, but the majority of the other movies have done great at the box office. The original saw movie begins off with two guys who wake up in a room together. They do not know how they arrived and they are handcuffed to a pipe. They are soon given a series of tasks which must be finished within a period of time or they will be killed. This movie is not as much scary as it is gruesome and thrilling.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose is a most popular horror movie that also did great at the box office. It includes a teenage girl who is considered possessed by the Catholic church. This movie was very popular despite many poor reviews from movie critics.

The Shining is a classic horror movie. It stars Jack Nicholson as a tired and disappointed writer. He feels like he can never focus on his writing so he takes a job as a winter caretaker in a hotel. Amusingly it turns out the hotel is haunted, so he does not get to do a lot of writing.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre begins off by stating that it is based on an original story. It is frequently debated on how true the story really is though. Five people in their 20's go on a long road trip. It is supposed to be a lot of fun until their car breaks down and they search themselves stranded in a little provincial town.

The Ring is ostensibly one of the scariest movies to turn out in the last ten years. It is still extremely popular. The villain in this movie is a young lady who was caught down a well and eventually died there. She causes issues down the road for a young lady, her son and her boyfriend.
