If you want a rugged, wired over-ear studio monitor with a massive 25-foot extension cable bundle for stationary or mobile studio work, choose Liquid Audio Audio-Technica ATH-M50X; if you need ultra-precise in-ear isolation with triple balanced armature drivers for stage monitoring and high-fidelity mixing, choose ULTIMATE EARS PROFESSIONAL UE 350.
• Liquid Audio Audio-Technica ATH-M50X: Offers exceptional comfort with circumaural ear pads and includes a massive 25-foot Pig Hog extension cable, but it is a wired-only solution that requires a source device nearby or an external amplifier for long distances.
• ULTIMATE EARS PROFESSIONAL UE 350: Delivers studio-grade clarity with triple Knowles balanced armature drivers and a secure "Perform Fit" design, yet it lacks the heavy-duty cable management of the M50X bundle and requires specific ear tips for a proper seal.
• Best for: The ATH-M50X suits professionals who need durable, all-in-one studio monitoring with extreme cable flexibility, while the UE 350 fits touring musicians and audio engineers who require compact, high-detail isolation for live performance or critical listening sessions.
The Liquid Audio Audio-Technica ATH-M50X bundle is engineered for the professional who needs to move their setup without losing connection integrity. This isn't just a pair of headphones; it is a complete monitoring system designed around the reality of studio work. The standout feature here is the sheer volume of connectivity options included. You get three detachable cables: a 1.2-meter straight cable for close proximity, a 3.0-meter straight cable for more distance, and a 1.2-to-3.0-meter coiled cable that expands as you move. To top this off, the bundle includes a staggering 25-foot Pig Hog extension cable. This means you can place your mixer, computer, or amp anywhere in the room and still have a clean, tangle-free signal path to your ears.
Comfort is another pillar of this product. The circumaural design contours fully around your ears rather than pressing against them, which is crucial during those long mixing sessions where every minute counts. The adjustable headband and professional-grade earpads ensure a secure fit that doesn't fatigue your jaw or temples. Whether you are doing mastering work late at night or gaming for hours, the focus remains on keeping the music clear and the distractions low. The 45mm large-aperture drivers provide an extended frequency range from 15 Hz to 28,000 Hz, delivering accurate sound reproduction that audio professionals trust.

However, this is not a wireless solution. If you are looking for freedom from cords entirely, this wired design will feel restrictive. The impedance sits at 38 ohms, which is manageable for most interfaces but might benefit from a dedicated headphone amp for maximum dynamics. The build quality relies on aluminum, faux leather, and plastic, creating a robust structure that can withstand the rigors of daily use. The swiveling ear cups allow for one-ear monitoring, a classic DJ feature that lets you hear your cues while still hearing the environment. This makes the ATH-M50X ideal for anyone who values a reliable, high-fidelity wired connection over the convenience of Bluetooth.
The ULTIMATE EARS PROFESSIONAL UE 350 Universal IEMs are built for a different kind of precision. These are in-ear monitors (IEMs) designed specifically for stage performance and studio mixing where absolute acoustic isolation is non-negotiable. The core of their appeal lies in the triple driver architecture. With two-way crossover systems, they utilize dual low-mid drivers paired with a dedicated high-frequency driver. This separation of duties allows for enhanced headroom and dynamic range, ensuring that the bass stays tight while the highs remain detailed and airy. For a musician standing next to a loud drum kit or an engineer trying to hear the subtle nuances of a vocal track, this level of detail is transformative.
The "Perform Fit" design is what sets these apart from generic in-ear monitors. They are engineered to offer a secure, comfortable fit that maintains a consistent seal even during intense physical activity. This consistency is vital because the sound quality of IEMs depends entirely on that seal; if the ear tip shifts, the bass response collapses. The inclusion of silicone tips ensures you can find the right size for your anatomy. Furthermore, the tactile red dot marking on the right side is a practical safety feature. In the chaotic, low-light environment of a backstage area or a dark club, you can instantly identify the correct earpiece by touch, preventing fumbling before a cue hits.
While the sound quality is exceptional, the trade-off is the lack of a comprehensive cable bundle compared to the M50X. These are universal fit IEMs, meaning they rely on the user to manage their own cabling and fit. They do not come with the extensive array of lengths and adapters found in the Audio-Technica bundle. The enclosure material is acrylic, which provides a durable shell but offers a different aesthetic than the matte black finish of the M50X. This product is best suited for those who prioritize portability and clinical accuracy over the bulk of a full-headphone set. It is a tool for the serious artist who needs to hear every note clearly without any external noise bleeding in.
• Best for battery life kids headphones for gym: Neither of these products has a battery because both are strictly wired. However, the UE 350 is lighter and less likely to interfere with movement, making it safer for active environments like a gym where you don't want heavy overhead gear bouncing around.
• Best active noise cancelling true wireless earbuds for gym: Again, neither is wireless. If your priority is isolation while working out, the passive noise isolation of the UE 350 IEMs often blocks more ambient gym noise than the over-ear M50X due to the deep seal in the ear canal.
• Best headset for gym: The ULTIMATE EARS PROFESSIONAL UE 350 wins for pure gym utility due to its low profile and secure fit, whereas the bulky over-ear design of the ATH-M50X might be uncomfortable under a helmet or during high-intensity cardio.
• Best for studio mixing and mastering: The Liquid Audio Audio-Technica ATH-M50X takes the lead here thanks to its 45mm dynamic drivers and the massive 25-foot cable bundle, allowing you to move freely between the mixing console and the speakers without unplugging anything.
• Best for live stage monitoring: The ULTIMATE EARS PROFESSIONAL UE 350 is the clear choice. Its triple balanced armature drivers provide the necessary detail to hear yourself over a loud band, and the red dot ensures you never put the wrong earpiece in during a show.
• Best for durability and travel: The ATH-M50X features a foldable design and comes with a carrying pouch and polishing cloth, making it easier to pack away for transport compared to the delicate acrylic shell of the UE 350.
• Best for long cable reach: The Liquid Audio Audio-Technica ATH-M50X bundle includes a 25-foot extension cable, a feature the UE 350 simply does not offer, giving you immense flexibility in how you set up your workspace.
• Best for detailed high-frequency reproduction: The ULTIMATE EARS PROFESSIONAL UE 350's dedicated high-frequency driver gives it an edge in clarity and definition, which is superior for critical listening tasks requiring micro-detail.
In my opinion, if you are setting up a home studio or need a reliable workhorse for general professional use, the Liquid Audio Audio-Technica ATH-M50X is the smarter investment. The inclusion of the 25-foot extension cable and multiple detachable cables transforms it from a simple headphone into a versatile monitoring station that solves the most common pain point of wired setups: cable length. However, if your primary goal is to perform live or listen to highly compressed mixes in a noisy environment, the ULTIMATE EARS PROFESSIONAL UE 350 is unbeatable for its isolation and driver precision. For a gym setting specifically, I would recommend the ULTIMATE EARS PROFESSIONAL UE 350 because its secure in-ear fit prevents the discomfort and slippage associated with larger over-ear models during movement. Both are excellent tools, but they serve very different masters.
Neither model is wireless, so neither has a battery. However, the ULTIMATE EARS PROFESSIONAL UE 350 is better for the gym due to its lightweight, in-ear design that stays secure during movement, unlike the heavier over-ear Liquid Audio Audio-Technica ATH-M50X.
Both are professional grade. The Liquid Audio Audio-Technica ATH-M50X uses 45mm dynamic drivers for a broad soundstage, while the ULTIMATE EARS PROFESSIONAL UE 350 uses triple balanced armature drivers for extreme detail and separation in the mid-range and highs.
Yes, the Liquid Audio Audio-Technica ATH-M50X bundle includes three different cables plus a massive 25-foot extension cable, offering far more flexibility than the standard setup provided with the ULTIMATE EARS PROFESSIONAL UE 350.
The Liquid Audio Audio-Technica ATH-M50X has an impedance of 38 ohms, which works well with most modern devices, though an amp helps. The ULTIMATE EARS PROFESSIONAL UE 350 are in-ear monitors that typically require less power to drive effectively due to their balanced armature design.
